I understand his mom was probably gunna go ape-shit on him...
but Kay was willing to come out to the whole school for him and he ditched him to dance with that jessica as soon as they got there...
and if Lan-na gets pissed at Kay... It was Lan-na's fault he was drunk in the first place.
