This is so southern, in the good William Faulkner/Flannery O'Conner way (although I don't know if that was your intention) but it's dripping heat and the surrealism of sobriety and I love this so much, especially the end and the yellow washer...I haven't found a decent poet on here for years, so I'm so happy to find your stuff :)

there is something very surreal and detached about being the only sober person in such circumstances - i think you captured that really well. really vivid imagery, especially "the car's lcd clock radio display" - such tension & nervousness contained there, somehow. it captured a moment, let's say, a vibe. have we not all been there? nice work xx
