for Illusoire

I just want to say that this was the story that made me sign up on fictionpress to get alerts, before this i would read sporatically, but this story. this story was amazing. i still think about that cliff hanger you left it on.

although to be constructive, while you did describe your scenes, i felt sometimes that they were almost airy? / foggy in a sense. Your characterization has such detail that sometimes the chacters almost felt 3d in a 2d environment [ hello paper mario ] regardless, it was beautiful and i'm still bummed that you discontinued it. your removal for plagiarism is totally warrented though, and i wish you luck on your writing and hopefully the assholes stealing your work realize that its just a shifty/shitty thing to do.

Oh no! I just realized I never read these last two chapters! =( This makes me so sad, especially now that you've taken this story down completely and you aren't even planning to post it on PH. I really loved this novel, and as I mentioned in my last review, even when I completely lost time to read FP I always came back to this story! I hope you do post more one day, I was completely in love with this story, more than anything else

Hey. I discovered fictionpress and about a year ago.

I read the first chapter of Illusoire two days ago, and I really liked it.

I understand why you've removed your work. I've never put up what I write for the same reasons.

Anyway, if, hopefully, you publish it I'd be very interested in reading.

Thank You

I may be insignificant, but this story was really good. I liked it a lot and was on edge at the end of each chapter. Well, if you do publish it, tell us when it'll be available! I'd definitely buy it!

This is completely ridiculous. At this point, I actually have lost count of the stories I'm reading that have been removed from FP. Either FP has to up the security on the site (i.e. disable copy-paste and printing), or authors should not post their stories if they intend to publish. Both, probably. I understand the frustration with plagiarism on the part of the authors, and I understand that some people don't necessarily consider publication when they start a story here - but as someone who is very attached to FP, and enjoyed the benefits of being able to read stories I like without having to buy them, as well as give crits that I know will be read, this kind of removal really disappoints and dismays me.

Another thing is, that you should really warn people in your summary, or even remove the story altogether. I started reading this story without any idea that it was mostly gone, and was getting really into it, when I suddenly realized that there were no more chapters, and that it was not going to be continued. Naturally, you probably want to keep the reviews and advertise your book, but I find it unfair to FP itself, as well as innocent readers who are accidentally pulled in. You should just copy the reviews, tuck them away somewhere safe, and retire from FP entirely. Most of all, don't leave empty chapters with, "This chapter has been removed." I don't mean this badly, but it's a waste of space, and sort of cruel, especially to fans. It's nice to feel like you have a legacy here, but ultimately, it takes more than it gives to the people still hanging around here.

I hope you don't take offense to this, and instead think a bit about what I've said.

i remember when all of this started. the plagiarism. oh, i mean, it had been going on for Quite a while, but i just 3 days half of my favorite stories and authors had pulled all of their work. the utter shock i had. not one of my favorite stories has been updated since. yours was my favorite though.

Illusoire was the greatest story i had ever read in all of my years on this site. your descriptions were beautiful, the characters well shaped, and it had a well moving plot and wonderful intrigue. i would check your site for updates everyday without fail. i was devastated to hear that you would be pulling the story. but even then i could not fully comprehend the severity of the situation. now i check my Favorite tab to find everyday that nothing has been updated. i can't even re-read a lot of the stories. i seriously think I'm going through Illusoire withdrawal. i just looked at your stuff, noticed how i could only read the first 3 chapters and practically cried. i really truly hope that you will continue writing. i absolutely love your work. i'm trying to get on to the livejournal, i hope i will still be able to read the stories from Kendal, Angels and Effects, and Myrika. please don't give up.

I think you are an amazing writer! Whatever happens, don't give up. You rock and so does your writing.

I'm sorry to hear that you took this story down (and also sorry that it took me so long to write something).

I wish you the best of luck in your future as an author. With a bit of work, I'm sure you can go far.

I'm disappointed to see that not only have you stopped posting for Illusoire, but also given up on fictionpress.

I was hoping to see how this LJ Smith-unrelated version would turn out, but I guess I'll have to wait until you get published, eh?

But I have to say, for the most part, I'm just really really disappointed in a lot of writers on FP now. Everybody's giving the same excuse "I want to get published, etc" and just leaving. Permanently. I want to respect that authors want to get published, but at the same time, my reader side is seriously irked.

Nonetheless, thank you for the writing you've presented on FP.

I think it's helped inspire more than a few people.

Contrary to what others say, I believe that you are a gifted talented author. Your ideas are original and creative. I enjoyed reading the first ten chapters of your story. Thank you for allowing me the gift of being able to read your story.

Sincerely,

Melissa

P.S. I am a writer as well and know the frustrations. Should you want to contact me to vent (lol), my email is

Oh No!

I'd left the email telling me you had a new chapter up until I needed something to cheer me up... and then I finally open it to this news!

Crushed.

...not sure what the apparent war in your reviews is about... but I think you are fantasitc, and when, yes, WHEN, you get published, I shall be collecting all of your works.

I wish you all the best of luck. You are amazing.

Lady Livia

PLEASE!

is there any way that i can continue reading this story cuz i really like it and i want to know whar happens!

I am an absolutely evil reviewer, Kendal, I really am!

Many, many authors described their characters by well, making the characters admire themselves in the mirror. When I discovered that you were also one of those authors, I felt like groaning, "Ah! Can I smash Teagan's mirror so that her author can describe her through some other ways?"

Well, I must admit that I find the potion intriguing. :)

I can sense that there is some sort of caste system in Illusoire's universe, but I do not know how to desribe it... Um, so the witches are at the top, while humans are stuck at the bottom? Yucky caste system!
6/19/2009 c1 Icyfire4w5
I am very, very sorry, Kendal! I guess that I must have been too sleepy, because I kinda skimmed through this chapter. Um, I feel that you have introduced too many characters within one chapter. Um, maybe my feeling is wrong... ((Well, I am guilty of the same flaw too, so yeah...))

I respect your decision to dis-continue with this story. Erm, but it does have its strengths. I love the University, though I have been reading about fantasy schools for as long as I can remember. Haha, the University's policies seem really politically correct, so I hope that Dr. Adamson is not a Big Bad Hypocrite. Almost all supernatural stories involve humans interacting with "The Others", and I believe that you can make the interactions interesting.

((Um, I am not very optimistic about the publishing world, for I suppose that editors only accept the BEST manuscripts. Nevertheless, when there is a will, there is a way. Wish you the best!))
