for CAROLINE

I actually liked this. And it surprised me...not because it is bad written or anything (it is good) but because I do prefer things more story-like.
It leaves us with that question...was Caroline the ninety nine percent? And I like to think it was. It also makes us wonder what it would be like on an hot air balloon.

cool! XD i love how you broke down the degree of love into percentages. maybe i should have done that before too... it sure makes things a whole lot easier. :)

This is a very unapologetic piece, and I applaud your originality. Honetley I’ve never read anything like your work, and I’m quickly falling in love.

You present a lot of themes throughout:

- the library itself, which is a direct vehicle to CAROLINE. The idea that your character does not like to read books conflicts with YOUR cultivated style, or at least it did for me.

- the percentages: Ninety-nine percent sure, six-five percent sure. I loved that! It was perfection, it shows a level of stream of conscious writing that can only come when looking deep into a situation long after it’s ended.

Caroline is never really shown in great detail - you mention her appearance, but not how she wedges herself into the relationship as a third party, which is also interesting.

I’ve I owned a book publishing company, I’d hire you.

Much love,

Juliet. Jules, via the Review Marathon (links in my profile)

I have to say I stumbled across you because of your adorable name and the fact that I really love the name Caroline. I like it even more in capital letters and with woeful eyes behind a desk in a library.

:)

This was really sweet, and quite sad in some weird way. And I love the last line! It made me smile :)

there is a very distintive voice to this piece, and i love it.

there is something so deep about this piece, but at the same time it's humorous. though there's vulgarity and lighthearted humor, there's something very poetic.

"She lived in my imagination in capital letters" - beautiful, beautiful, beautiful.

the ending was so nonchalant. i laughed.

It says this is complete, doesnt feel like it. Like who's caroline? i was starting to think the narrator was a schizophrenic of some sort and caroline was imaginary or sthing..but its finished?

"You can't fuck someone in a library unless you're one hundred percent sure you love them. Beds, eighty percent. Showers, sixty five. Cars, you only have to be forty percent sure. It's something to do with how easy it is to get caught. Or how easy it is to get out of the situation if you decide your percent wasn't as high as you thought." Hahahaha I love this. Very quirky and original. :)

"because I was sure, plus nineteen percent." I don't understand this line... does it means "I was sure (of 99%) + 19%" or does it mean "I was sure (that my love for him was) + 19%" like... as in, slightly over 19%. Very confusing, haha. The math - it doesn't make sense! ah! o.O

The part about Harry Potter and the librarians... hahaha you are very funny. I never knew that. And now I do! :) You should write prose more often... you're good at it. :)

"Later that year I learned when you're ninety nine percent sure, you do it it in a hot air balloon." I really like this line, but it's anticlimactic for this. It all seems to be building to something, and then there's the bit about Caroline and this bit about hot air balloons. Eh. This deserves a better kind of ending. :(

I like this. The idea that you needed to love someone a certain amount amuses me.

Makes me think of this guy I really like too. =]

this may not be your typical style, but i thouroughly enjoyed it. :)
