I love the adventure you make it! Gemma makes such a good mom for her kids! I'm glad they found somewhere to rest their heads, and I'm hoping that their trespassing won't be noticed. Excellent chapter, as always!

I'm so glad she found a place for them to live! That's wonderful. I hope there aren't any owners, though, to kick them out. ::crosses fingers::
More soon!

Sorry it has been so long.
A sweet chapter. Garner is just adorable.
Really sad though, but i am sure that Conner has a pivitol place in the up and coming chapters!
I love the prayer at the end. So simple and sweet. Also the words at the beginning. Beautiful. Keep writing!

This is good. Not so many spiritual works on here, and fewer still are historically inclined, so props for that. :)
Edith certainly is a bitter (old) woman. I can understand her sorrow, but that's no excuse, really. I'm wondering if she's a Christian.
Poor Gemma, turned out on the streets. At least now she has employment, though I'm sure that won't turn out so well. The children are adorable.
This story is set in early/mid '90s, correct? It doesn't really seem historical. The prologue almost seems as though it were part of another story, because it's rather modern, in my opinion, and the writing is different from the rest. That said, I like your writing style; everything flows nicely. The first paragraph here, though, is ginormous, so maybe split it a bit. It'll be easier on the eyes.
All in all, I'm quite enjoying this story, so keep up the good work. :)
Until next time,
Selarose

oh I don't like Mr. Stirling! I do like the lawyer Mr. Hamrick though! I can't wait to meet him again!
Love the story! Can't wait for a new chapter.

Always, always, always go with your gut instinct. But desperate times call for desperate measures. I have a feeling she'll regret working for him. I hope nothing serious happens to her.
If I could reach through this screen and that phone line, I'd ring her mother-in-law's neck. What a bleep. I must be just an idealist and optimist, because I am still amazed that there are people out there who have nothing but bad manners and attitudes. I don't see how they enjoy anything with such negativity.
I hope this job with Mr. Stirling gives her a little time in order to find something better for herself and children.

Oh no! This Stirling is a bit on the sketchy side, and so I am a bit conflicted because he has offered Gemma a job, but has done so for personal gain. Sketchy indeed. And Edith...well, she's is definitely a bitter woman. Nice chapter. :)

So I for real dislike John's mother...how in the world could she be so cruel! To her grandkids no less! I honestly don't think my grandmother would ever turn us away, even if she did dislike the person her daughters married. It's just...so, unfeeling! She really irritates me...a lot. And, I'm certainly not sure I trust this Mr. Sterling fellow... You've definitely given us some folks to look out for. Hopefully Gemma will be able to keep her head held high and provide for her family without terrible things happening. She has been through enough as it is..in my opinion! Excellent chapter!

Hiya
i love this chapter. The sweetness of Gardner and his prayers reminds me of my little boy and his prayers. Children say the cutest things in innoence and its always something so simple. It brings me back and makes me realise that simple is best we don't need all this extra stuff but we find ourselves getting it.
Can't wait for an update.
Angel
P.S - still pregnant with twins - they said they are both girls. I'm hoping they are both girls then i will have 3 boys and 2 girls. Currently on rest at home - they may put me into hospital at some stage. Just a little update about me.

This story is a similar style to your other, but a little different too.
I have no idea what i would do if i was in her shoes. Tough, it must've been very tough in those days.
Keeping writing.

wow, i was wondering how you were doing and if you were writing again. Somewhere along the way i lost the alerts to your profile so i didn't see that you've started writing again until now.
Like this chapter very to the point but i love your writing style anyway. Keep updating.

I love how you captured the McAdams' willingness to help. I've been a cynic all my life about religion, but after my step-dad passed, the people from my mom's church just called and offered help from all directions. It changed my mind about everything and I'm super thankful for it.
And she got to meet this mysterious Connor. Hm. Can't wait to hear more about him.
Her kids sound so adorable. I wish all kids were that well behaved. Haha.
This is an amazing story. More soon, chica!
