This was very nice and sad. I liked it and how you easily displayed the emotions of the doctor and how he was trying to withstand everything around him.
Great short.

Wow, that was really good! I always find war stories touching, and this really did it for me. It was really powerful, and honestly I couldn't find anything I didn't like about it. I especially liked the end with Mercier coming back and everything. I wasn't expecting it, but it really added to the story. Excellent piece of work. Good luck in the contest! :)

Herro there! Me again lol! :D Anyway, you did say you want reviews for this one and hence, here I am. :) Ok, I can say it's a good work here. you do have a knack for doing war stories one-shot. I really like the way you did the supernatural aspects of this story and the overall feel. It really seems rather foreboding, but at the same time, I could feel the warmth of humanity here through the ghost guy here. And yeah, you're a true Candain nationalist huh? ;) Anyway, thanks for your recent review on A Ranger's Tale. Hope to see the final one for the updated chapter soon! ^^ Bye! :)

so sweet
and sad too
i like how you brought the "supernatural" elements into the story with Mercier's ghost and all. it really made me feel warm. and in the end, hope.
another thing i noticed is that you never actually mentioned the boy's name. that is definitely on purpose, right? i guess since you didn't give him a name, it makes the story so much more touching because he could be anyone. it allows everyone to relate to the boy and what had happened to him.
and yes, using a doctor's pov was also rather ingenious. it seems to say that everyone suffered in this war, including the healers.
good job ^.^

Good job on the contest piece. I really liked it, considering the sad tone of the story. I cracked up with the whole "Canada" thing - I wish I could be as patriotic for the good ole USA. *SNORT* By the way, was he from the "state" of Ontario? Sorry, that's going to be an inside joke for a while now...
Anywho, in all seriousness, it was really good. :)

It's a very nice story. I especially liked the line "but still powerless in the fight between the beast that is war and the fragility of man."
