Oh jeez. I didn't even know you had a new story out. I'm so sorry for not reviewing! I'll get to reviewing the rest of the chapters eventually (hopefully soon), but for now, this sounds like a really great opening chapter. I barely know your characters but I like them already (by the way, really realistic flight attendant imitation, haha). I know this general plot has been used before, but I also know you're a creative writer so I'm looking forward to seeing how you make this story stand out from all the others! :)

Let's see, my very first impressions of this chapter are all good and pretty strong.
I loved the interaction with Joel on the plane. I don't know how feasible that would be IRL, but it really worked to pull me into Claire's current atmosphere. I could see how a nice (and cute!) boy would be a great relief on a plane trip from one life to another.
I also loved that Claire's family loves her and she back. Too many of these "usurped by cruel fate" stories tend to make the "new" family a bunch of trolls. But not this family. Thank goodness. Kate seems like a sweet - if maybe single-minded? - girl.
Lastly, I am definitely looking forward to meeting Calvin, since Claire considers him one of her best friends.
All in all, nicely done.
