I love the ending. You build the whole thing up to be so boring and mundane, so that really makes some contrast at the end.
I also love the topic as a whole because it's so relatable. There's some actors out there like Johnny Depp and Heath Ledger that just /can't/ fit into that cookie cutter Hollywood crap, but otherwise, you're right, they're all the same.
Honestly, the only reason I watch the Oscars are for the technical awards, such as lighting, costuming, sound editing, etc. I plan (hope) on working in the movie industry in lighting, and let me tell you, /that/ stuff takes skill, not just a pretty face and a nice dress.

It do be true. people put so much stock in wanting to be somebody else, that they forget who they are. They want to be as successful as those people on T.V., but they forget how us little country folks are pretty dang successful in our own lives if not more successful. we have a hand-to-hand impact on people, instead of just giving them an image they want to see...

I have to say, there are times when my mom or my brother make me sit in front of the tv saying that "this is so cool! This is so fun! You have to watch it with me!" they're really saying "come and watch the stupid celebs march around in their Vivachi, and every other stupid designer name and thinking they look so beautiful that the world just HAS to stop for them. They're all really stupid, really all flash no true beauty, and all big words no true commitment. So yes, I do agree with you. Although, I have to disagree at least a little in this one bit. There are actors who are extremely funny, and if they win an "award" they give the most hysterical speeches :)
Other than that, yes, I do agree with you and I have to say you worded it quite nicely. I always forget their names too :P

YES! THANK YOU! FINALLY SOMEONE WHO UNDERSTANDS! jeez, i'll never know why some people are so hooked on celebrities. sometimes i'll just sorta glance over at my cousins teen magazines and it'll all be about hook ups, break ups, and who got pregnant, and who was sent to rehab. it's so stupid. and then everyone decides that celebrities somehow set the standard of living "cool." i remember my cousin once asked my why i couldn't be "normal" and why i couldn't read "normal" books and why i couldn't watch "normal" tv and movies. and i got so insulted right there. if being normal means you have to be semi-brainless and worship celebrities as gods, then i don't want a part of it.
sorry for the rant. ^-^;
oh, and i thought that "hot-dog awards" was really clever. never thought of it that way. :D

Hehe, named after hot dogs...
This was nice, I really liked it. You showed what a lot of people think whenever someone they know gets into some fad that is really just a superficial mark of the downward spiral of society. :shakes head:
Keep it up! :}
