Dear erasmuss,
Even though you haven't updated this story for a long while, I sincerely hope that you are doing okay and it's just life (or an evil writer's block) that's keeping you away from updating and finishing this beautiful story.
I've reread this story 3 times already and will be reading it again, no doubt. It's that good. The plot is unique, the characters are strong and compliment each other so we. A true pleasure to read.
I will continue to hope that someday you will find the time and will to update this story. Even if you have no intention to finish this story anymore- it would be nice if you'd be willing to grace us readers with some closure.
A brief summary of how you had planned for this story to end. Even a few sentences would be better than nothing.
Would the allied forces rescue Sam and Emil in time? Would Emil be granted asylum in US for saving Sam? Would both men be able to live in piece and comfort after the war ended? In my version of the ending, it's a "yes" to all three questions, but I'd like to hear your version.

Hey, english is not first language...but I want to leave a comment anyway. I think you deserve more comments. I started to read this fic one or two months ago, but I finally gathered the courage to write a comment because my english writing skill is not good, obviously. :/ Forgive me if my words seem odd.
I enjoyed every sentences you wrote. Also, your character building is definately awesome. Not only Sam and Emil, but also Chris, Morgan, Meino and other chracters. I felt like they're living and breathing somewhere. And the way you describe everything is utterly beautiful! I may not be a native speaker, but I know that. And that's the reason why this fic catched my eyes in the first place. (I especially love the scene Emil saw a dead canaria and Sam's eyes in the first chapter) I just wanted to say...that you're such a talented writer. I want to buy your book. I hope one day you finish and publish this.

I've followed this story since its beginning and I couldn't express how much I loved it.
Each of these chapters took my breath away ; each of these moments lived by all these soldiers, germans and americans alike ; these miserable deaths and these godamn awfully well written paragraphs broke my heart in such a hard way, I thought I lived, in a blink of an eye and for an single instant, the dread of war at its worst.
Everytimes the chapter came to an end, I couldn't help but be hungry and thirsty for more, as if an insatiable monster has taken my place. It was this good. It was this interesting.
I became another, and another became myself. I was in a bubble that cannot pierced, as I wished for more ; as I craved for it to reach an end without being able to really touch it.
I wanted to tell you that this story has swept all my attention to itself. When I began to read it, I was instantly pulled right into this madness and I didn't regret it at all.
I also wanted to tell you that if one day this story ends, I would gladly buy it and proudly let it be and rest on my bookshelf. I would surely read it a thousand times and I would cherish it, like I cherish all the books (and all the things) that had pleased me and that still do.
Until this moment comes (if it happens, one day...), I shall wait, patiently...

I recently visited a history museum, and a short clip from the history channel revealed something that made my stomach churn; I learned about the bombing of Dresden on February 13th. My heart immediately broke for Emil, who it appears will unexpectedly outlive his entire family. They seem to have at least a month before then, but it's going to be a sad day.

I started reading this story back in 2010 or so and I cannot tell you how happy it made me so get a notification of a new chapter after all these years. I am happy you didn't abandon this story, as I truly cherish it.
I don't mind having to wait longer for new chapters. Life is busy and we all have so many things that require our attention :)

Holy hell, Emil.
Emil has underwent some harsh conditioning, what with his father and the third Reich, throughout his formative years and it shows. Religion has also helped him find order, meaning, and purpose. All of this is thrown out the window in the event of Sam's life being in danger, putting him above everything. This is "I don't care what it costs" kind of love. I liked picturing the blood in his teeth while he goes, "Jorgen..." and at that moment I knew Jorgen was in trouble. What a badass. The real star of the scene, however, was when he dropped his gun and picked up Sam. I could empathize with the cold, pain, thirst, the weight... and it was like all the sins of his life, the killing, the stoic front, the shame were bleeding out. And then ending the chapter with him literally giving Sam his own lifeblood; the ultimate gift of oneself. The killing, the carrying, and then finally... life. This is one chapter worth shedding some tears over. I think it's clear that Mercy is a huge theme here, as the main element of the first chapter and the climax here as well. With what became of Emil, how could Sam be anything but merciful? And Emil is fighting with his own logic on that front, but above all else he would never let Sam down.
Anyways, I feel like I could just write forever, but I wanted to make sure that the review that I left on this chapter was one that the chapter felt worthy of, and I couldn't bring myself to express my thoughts well enough. But it's late, and I figured I could always write a new one later, right? This story makes me so happy. And sad. But good sad.
