Everyone's "Invisible Monsters" are what they are in denial about. Keaton, Max, and Leslie: the feelings they individually have for one another that threaten to ruin their friendship. Nate: the fact that his father is physically abusive, and the fact that Konstantine knows about it (and I assume he still doesn't know the full story of Konstantine's secret. Even WE don't). Carol: the fact that Konstantine's very presence in her house is straining her marriage and her carefully crafted lifestyle. Shaun: the fact that Konstantine's presence is upsetting is wife and HIS carefully crafted lifestyle. And of course, Konstantine: Chris. And the fact that she knows what everyone else's Invisible Monsters are, but chooses to not acknowledge that they exist either. That, in itself, becomes a monster.
That said, I don't think this chapter is filler at all. It is a necessary transition from what has been the setting up of the chessboard to the actual game. It outlines the tensions that are eventually going to explode in everyone's faces because they didn't adress their problems when they needed to. All I can say is, I DEFINITELY am excited for the next chapter.
Oh, and I missed Chris. Bring him back soon, pretty please? :)

So I was pretty excited when I saw this update email in my inbox. I have a horrible memory, though, so I totally forgot how the last chapter ended even though I started reading this not that long ago. But your little PREVIOUSLY dealio helped out. Heh.
SO ANYWAY...uhh...yeah. I liked this chapter. It was kind of short, but that's okay. I really like Keaton and it seems like he's got some shit to figure out now! Uh oh. I personally am on team Keats and Max, but Leslie's cool too so yeah. Blah.
And can I just say that I LOVE Jess and Nate and Kon's relationship? Siblings are so awesome. And I don't know why, but step-sibling relationships have always intrigued me. All I can say is WOW. This has got to be one of the deepest love stories I've read on Fictionpress. Where do I even begin? Basically, this story is beautiful. I can see it being a romance between both Konstantine and Chris and Konstantine and Nate (albeit, a slowly moving one for the latter). But beyond that, its also a story about Konstantine herself, how she copes with what life's thrown at her and how she's slowly starting to heal. At least, that's what I'm getting out of it. And I LOVE it.
You characters are memorable, funny, and heartbreaking all at the same time. I love Konstantine as a lead and I find myself adoring Chris, even with how messed up he is/was. Nate I don't like quite as much as Chris, simply because its hard to see him as anything other than an emotionless robot. But I think that's the point, aye? And the last couple of chapters helped with that.
This is the kind of story where I think I can pretty much call the shots, but the ride there is so insightful nd enjoyable that I don't care. I admire Konstantine more and more with each chapter. She's the perfect blend of strong and weak. She has been through a lot, but she is still able to empathize with others so well and feel their pain for them. She shows it with Nate, with Jessica, and even with Carol. Instead of reacting angrily like your average self-absorbed teenager would, she takes everything on herself and tries not to destroy everyone's life like she thinks she's bound to. She's amazing.
I would love to see Nate open up more, as I feel like I'm just starting to appreciate his character. All in all, I'm excited for where this story is headed and the emotional ride it will be before the conclusion. I don't noramlly review stories, but when something stands out to me such as this, then I think its only fair to compliment the author on a job very beautifully done. Bravo. :)

LOVE this story! It's incredibly well-written and original and interesting. So good. I'm actually kinda surprised it's not more popular on this site, cause it should be. Anyways, love it and please update asap!

Alright, so, I can finally say it - UPDATE SOON!
This chapter was heartbreaking. Poor Nate. He is definitely my favorite character, hands down. I had a feeling for a while that he was abused or something like that, since he's always so cold and distant, but I wasn't sure until this chapter.
I really like Nate and Kon's interactions and their whole relationship in general. Quite possibly my favorite passage from this whole story is this:
"Our relationship was like some passionless medieval dance. We spun around one another in graceful movements, never touching. We grew closer, then stepped away in time, daring the other to break the pattern, the formality – to make something, anything, happen."
That, my friend, is a perfect metaphor. It's great! And it really captures the essence of this whole thing.
Anyway. Enough about Nate and Kon. This whole story is pretty great! I'm glad Carol was able to sort of make amends with Konstantine, and every episode with Chris is really touching. I still love Shaun and Max still cracks me up. Leslie liking Keaton was certainly an interesting twist - can't wait to see what happens there.
I hope you update this soon! I've become pretty attached to it. Nice work so far!
