I absolutely adore this. I wish it was a whole novel.

I thought that the lack of conversations was good. Even though I usually get excited to read a conversation, I was actually interested in the story the whole time I was reading it.(: That is if that made any sense. O.o

It was soooo cute. )
I like that the story is light and funny. I definitely like how you wrote this. You seem to have a way in mixing comedy and sense. The way you wrote Jude, seems as if she's too lazy but quite intelligent.

Hello, hun! Sorry this has taken so long, I've been a bit busy :( Anyway, your story has been added under the One Shot section of A Drop of Romeo! Yay! Here's your review:
Melissa Thinks: Gum Wrapper Confessionals’ plot comprises of exactly what the title hints at: a girl who writes her confessions of love on gum wrappers. Jude is in love with Henry Bishop, a close friend of hers. Every day in her boring Physics class (I can sooo relate to this), she ritually writes down her confession on a solitary gum wrapper, sticks her piece of gum in the wrapper, and throws it away. One day she accidentally breaks this sacred ritual, and... well you’ll have to read and find out what happens.
The one thing I really like about this story is how relatable Jude is. She feels like one of your friends who you get along great with. The story is created with great voice, characterization, and flow. You’d almost wish it was a full length story! The cuteness was just overflowing, and although I did wish for more of a conclusion at the end, it was still a spectacular story.

Omigosh this is so cute. Can I please have my own little Henry, or even just some kind of weirdo habit that is quirky and cute? And your writing flows so well, and it's positively lovely.
xoxo Anita

I saw this on SKoW and I'm really glad I read it. Even though I don't write love notes to my crushes on gum wrappers, I'm sure we've all doodled hearts with our crush's name on it at some point. I could relate to Jude in so many ways- having an overachieving brother, being in love with a friend who doesn't love you back, doodling in Physics, etc. You seamlessly incorporated Jude's quirks into the story and made her more than just a typical, one-dimensional character. I especially loved your ending- you didn't take the easy way out and say they lived happily ever after and fell in love. Instead, you kept it realistic but hopeful.

I loved this story. It was short, yet left an impact. The perfect little package. I was going crazy wondering if Jude was a girl or a boy. it could go either way after all. I love her reaction to the citrus gum. (My sister eats the same kind and I hate 'em too) Nice reference to "The Lady, or the Tiger?" Gotta love when an author is well read. Anyway, awesome job with the story!

I've never really been an FP reader, spending most of my time on the other site (yeah, FF-dot-net shamefully so) but I've been browsing some of the one shots and stumbled upon this. I can speculate why this doesn't have as many reviews as some of the other one shots. (Sorry if this beginning isn't as promising but bear with me). However of the 20 or so one shots I've read (and most of them have reviews numbering in the hundreds), this is the only one I felt compelled to review. Because this felt very... real, (does that make sense?) and "un-cliched". The story comes across as very honest. It doesn't fall into those typical chick-lit writing. And I think that's what made me feel like reviewing. I love your character's inner voice. This reminds me of the sort of inner voice a Salinger character would have (and I mean that as a compliment). Keep up the good work and good luck with your writing.
