I've read this so many times, I'm genuinely surprised that I haven't reviewed it.
The constant reference to math keeps this piece 'afloat', I feel. There's a heaviness underneath it all that is entirely capable of bringing the mood to an overly dark place. The intellectual 'glazing' you executed was superb.
