I think that set-u of the story being about the real people of Atlantis is pretty awesome. However, I also think that you should start in Atlantis,and Taegan deciding to live on the surface. But good start, hard to say how good of story I think it's going to be, since I don't really know the plot yet. (I review after Chaper 1).
P.S. the whole princess comment is so stalkerish, it made me laugh.
