Hey I read the original ages ago and have been patiently waiting for your updates :) I'm really happy with the character development of Tayu and quite like how you have changed the story thus far. Merfolk! Well, I had guessed that was why her legs were so long a short while ago, but I didn't want to say it lest I was wrong. I so dislike being wrong...but since I was right, I'm happy! I really like the idea of mermaids, even though I don't read many stories about them, so I like this, even if Tayu never really will have a tail and scales and whatnot.
But I am also ever so slightly confused. I had thought that in the (quite cute) prologue, the little girl was Tayu, and she lost her mother later. The bit where the mother says "Lucky for you, the Stepway didn't seem to like me much. I didn't make it two feet off of the ground before I fell and busted my bum, and right in front of your daddy, too..." made me think, 'Ah, so that's how Tayu's mother met [blocked]?' (Only blocked because I am trying, per request, to include no spoilers in my review.) But it's not Tayu's mother at all! I only just realized that not once does it say that the little girl is Tayu. I will have to re-imagine Tayu's origins...with her beginning as an egg...hmm... :)
I can't decide if I like Amun or not - if he's funny and peculiar, or if he's kind of a jerk. To me, he seems to go between the two quite rapidly. I don't recall him being in the first version, so I have nothing to go off of! I suppose I'll just have to wait and see.
I also have a small question, which you needn't answer if you don't want to, but I was wondering, are the Merfolk a subset of the Fey in your story?

When I say wow, I really, truly mean it.
So wow...
Indeed.
I have to admit, after spending an exessive amount of time on , reading original work is probobly more exiting than it ought to be. But this was a really suspenceful read and very, very cleverly written. Loved the characters, loved Amon and their interaction. I can see this story going very well. I would suggest, however, that... Actually... You have it all very well in hand and I cannot complain after stealing sleep to read something very worthwhile.

I'm reviewing right now, RIGHT NOW, because somehow my 'laters' seem to be turning into 'nevers' lately. I think I liked this chapter, though I'll admit to some confusion on Tayu's sort-of transformation, and why Amun would initiate it. But look, her eyes are changing colors again...and your chapter title is Ocean Eyes, which makes me think of Owl City. :) But if they're ocean eyes, will they only be turning ocean-like colors? Oh, that's right, they more or less reflected her mood in the first version, didn't they? I seem to remember them being pink at some point...
I was just musing the other day about how fantasy authors seem to avoid giants as their main characters, but now it looks like Tayu is over halfway to becoming one. She was already two feet taller than the drunken man, and then she grew five inches, so she is, what, just short of eight feet now? Or even just over? Will she be shrinking down again at some point? I find it a little odd to have a main character who is disproportionate to the usual people, because it isn't so easy to imagine them. I had the same problem with Gail Carson Levine's -Fairest-, where the main character is broad and has strange coloring - it was a good book, but I didn't ever know what to make of Aza's looks. It now seems reasonable to think, though, that Tayu is hardly tall just for the sake of being tall (which is what I first thought at the beginning of this story), so what's up? Will those long legs be turning into a long fishy tail at some point? ;)
By the way, I beg of you not to call Lelouch Lulu in the story! My dog's name is Lulu, and she's so short and stubby that she looks like a little white submarine running around the house. I love her, but if you expect me to ever believe that Tayu or anyone else finds Lelouch at all attractive in looks or personality at any point and you call him Lulu...lord, I just couldn't take it.

I read the old version and now I'm reading this one and I really like the new tayu, she has alot more personality and the story has alot more depth now too :) nicely done, I'm looking forward to the next chapter
