I'm actually on here to work on my own stories, but I wanted to stop by to tell you something. There actually is a way to create chapter breaks. The only thing is, they can't be fancy things that you create yourself. When you go to edit your chapters before you post them for the first time, there's an option in the top bar (where the bold, underline and italics options are located) that is just a straight line. That is a line that stands for a chapter break. When you want to use it, press enter after the last line of the section and then insert the chapter break line. That will show up in your story as a chapter break. :)
As for going back to the chapters you already posted, I think you'd have to go back into your uploaded document for the chapter, insert the chapter breaks, and then replace your posted chapter with the chapter you just edited. My first story, "Forgive Me Before You Go", suffered from the whole "chapter breaks that randomly disappeared" thing. I was finished the story, but the fact that it has 60 chapters stopped me from going back and adding them all back because that would take too much time and I'd bash my head off my laptop if I had to do that! xD
So yeah, that's how you do that. I hope I helped! :)
