i might not have seen the picture you were trying to paint with this haiku. to me it's eyes adjusting to new darkness - a room where you've just turned off the light... you see total darkness for a few seconds until you're able to see in the dark. that 'pseudo-blooming iris' phrase made me see eyes adjusting to the darkness. um, i don't see the connection between the title and how i pictured it, but interesting nonetheless. :)
