Firstly, I'm surprised this hasn't had any other reviews yet. Anyway, it's a really well-written story, and I like how you introduce the narrator; also, nicely handled in the way the story is told through the narrator's eyes, rather than one of the main characters. It makes it much more interesting, and means that the reader can almost totally immerse themselves in his posistion. Loved the descriptions, especially of the woman; through very few words, you manage to convey a fully fleshed out character. The dialogue worked brilliantly, too; another thing about the narrator is, basically, I like how we discover the history of this family the same way he does, although it's possible the reader could put more links in than he does. Anyway, really great stuff!
