This is a really interesting piece - it grabs the reader right from the start, and without giving too much away it builds up a brilliant picture. I can't help but wonder what else is going on, around this, with the resistance and the queen etc. I love the voice of the man, it gives a really strong impression of him and I think you do it well, I can imagine him to be old (or middle-aged, at least) and can just picture the way other people must see him. Overall, a really good, strong piece. Great stuff!
