It is pretty accurate considering the incident in 2010 when a homeless was bleeding to death and no one bother to even call 911. I know decisions are tough but this one just makes you wonder now and then when it comes to this and that.

Thus inspires the "City Phantom".

An interesting question...Really nice job with this btw. :) I find it sorta funny but mostly sad that the only person to notice was a young kid. Says a lot actually, I hope I don't turn out like that as I get older. I'm going to try anyway.

You know one thing? This work of yours should be highlighted for the sense of subtle mockery towards humanity. When I first went through the first part, I got a bit lost. But after re-reading the whole thing, that's where the fun starts to kick in. Apparently, the biggest monster in humane nature is indeed apathy itself. Who are the ones teaching us such a lesson? Is it our parents? Or perhaps society has always been nothing more than vicious cycle where "my time is more precious than yours". In a very eery sense, whatever apathy I've seen here is pretty similiar to the onlookers in the first chapter of A Ranger's Tale.

I still remember a very infamous term coined "NIMBY". Not In My Back Yard. Without getting too detailed, let's just say that it's a global malaise. RThose who think it's a problem with my country should just get their heads opened and checked. Yet funnily enough, why is it that the little girl was immune to the whole thing? I believe that as children, we're not mindful of the worries of adulthood. Yet once we reached that very stage, all will change unless we can be very firm on what kind of life we want to take. Horrendously enough though, not everyone has the guts to do so. It's an ostrich mob so as to speak seriously. Of course on the little girl, it's a no-brainer in the same context as well.

At the end of the day, I think one very ingenious stroke you've done here is that you don't do stereotypes on an individual basis. i.e. specific race or community. But rather, it's a collective stereotype. i.e. humanity. In a very scary sense, this is the ONLY legit stereotype in the world. To me, it's a very refreshing change to see this kind of story telling. :)

This is a rather interesting little one-shot. I would probably say that if this stunt was pulled in London the reaction would be pretty similar. No one makes eye-contact, no one cares for anyone else. Pretty deep if you read between the lines. Very enjoyable. Good job!

Hello Vivace Assai :)

I really liked this story, a proper short story, a deep thought and an important morale expressed in only 1600 words. I like the way you write a lot, very realistic and very good descriptions.

The experiment also sounds like something I would consider doing if I had the guts :D The human psyche is one amazing thing is it not?

I saw similar experiments on TV shows and they had similar findings. When it was rush hour few people stopped to help a person that was lying on the ground in the middle of the road, looking ok, but still lying on the ground! o.o But almost everyone stopped and asked if the person was ok when there were fewer people on the streets. It seems it is our group mentality that causes us to do that, we are programmed to follow the group whatever our personal beliefs might be. It is lovely to see exemptions though :)

Anyway thank you for this story :)
