Honestly, I don't mind the lack of excitement at this point, it's just nice seeing him in a world that's clearly so different from his own with expectations that he doesn't understand/know.
I really do like seeing the General with him, especially the image of someone who is so competent, has had three wives and has four children (I think?) and yet he blushes like a school girl when he gives Cal a gift, even if he doesn't come out and say that it's a gift.
It's really sweet.

Hurrah!Some of my questions were answered. In addition, he got the General to get in the water!:) Well, he threw him in, but the General stayed in it. I'm glad that Calentine was at least sort of coaxing about it and I'm glad that he regretted using his power over the General in such a way. I think some people would take advantage of that knowledge and I'm glad Calentine doesn't seem like that type of person. I'm also glad that at the end the General seemed proud of himself for doing.

Great chapter. The general is too cute. Calentine will have to soften towards him eventually...I hope. Otherwise the poor general will be stuck celibate. LOL More soon, please.

Interesting story so far, but aren't they supposed to be together? I get the feeling that by being connected like they are they pretty much are supposed to be like a married couple. I just think the General doesn't want to say anything so he won't upset Calentine. However, the lack of touch seems to be causing the General some distress. Are they supposed to be physically close also in order for them to be good for each other? A lot of questions I know:) I'm just surprised that Calentine doesn't seem interested in men at all.
I like both of the characters so far, from what I know. I like how you can include so much information about the sea and sailor life without making it seem like just silly descriptions. I believe that Calentine is a sailor and had all those experiences. It just seems so natural for him. I also like how you've handled the dzalin culture so far. It's interesting without being overly confusing and doesn't feel like you're just creating the traditions and customs only for your story. In other words, I think you've done a great job on world building. The dialogue is also flowing and interesting.
I'm looking forward to the next chapter and finding out more about your world:)

The explanation of Jara being the General's daughter was a wee bit unclear, but other than that, I am one hundred percent complaint free! Another amazing chapter in an amazing story! Can't wait to see where it goes and I am hoping with all my heart and soul that Calentine-who is still awesome-manages to drag all the dzali on a boat!

I'm holding my fingers crossed for do extra update this week :-D I absolutely love this story. It is one of the best ones I've ever read online. You're just awesome like that. I've actually just reread the whole story cause I like it that much. I do have one litle question though. You've said that on focus has ever been able to in further than a shot arrow's leanght from their vector. So how could Cale go that far away to drink? :-) Or maybe it wasn't as far away as I thought? Anyway, loving the story 3 See you with the next chapter.

Great continuation. I see they are managing to spend some time apart. lol Though I'm sort of hoping that Calentine stumbles home and accidentally ends up in the general's bed. lol It would be a funny way to wake up, for a guy who has always thought he was straight. :))

So Calentine is officially awesome and he definitely needs to kick some dzali butt. I love the cultures that your story sets up. It's at once amazingly lifelike and fantastically interesting. Beautiful writing and I hope you keep at it!

Oh this is entirely childish of me...but, please, more! I wish your chapters were also super duper long...how ungrateful I am. Especially considering that you update so often! Twice a week, if not more - something practically unheard of for a fictionpress writer. I mean, some author put up and update once ever 4 MONTHS! Anyway you've got me hooked to see this story moving along and itching to see the patronizing dzali finally take the 'foolish sailor human's' plan seriously.
