This gets better and better. I love this chapter, I love the "made my sinuses burn from holding it in", the narrowed focus through the vent in the door. The assumptions drawn from what little she can see and hear. Very intuitive.

I love that this starts in the midst of the action. It's a good preview to a short story. You can go so many ways with this too. I would say give it a go, and see where it takes you.
