I really like this. It makes for a nice short, but leaves the reader wanting to know more about the characters involved. It offers a nice introduction to the main character, and you manage to convey the scenes nicely even though it could have become confusing. It shows a lot about the characters, too, including the father, even if the reader doesn't see a lot of him. Good stuff.
