Well! I read half of this story in one sitting, and well past my bedtime I might add.

I love how you characterize Mick and the dangerous/alluring/mysterious men in his life. The gradual revelation of Mick's daily struggles just to stave off emotional compromise were exquisitely handled. As a reader, I would probably have been overwhelmed to find out how much he struggled to balance his empathy if it were front and center from page one. Instead, Mick presented a cool, snappy mask of control . . . and it gradually drew aside to show us what was really going on behind the scenes. I think that was a smart move, and it let tension & suspense rise with each little discovery.

By the way, reading this story in the middle of a global pandemic has been fun. I internally cheered and felt immense relief every time Mick refused to touch someone, or used hand sanitizer, or sprayed disinfectant, or took any other precautions after being exposed to the public . . . but of course, it was for reasons entirely separate from the actual context of the story. I do have to say, this story has become oddly relevant for current events! (Even more fun that you started this story years ago, before social distancing was even a thing).

But back to the characters: I like the fact that despite how much suffering his empathy saddles him with, Mick is still a resilient and self-determined character. I like the details that peoples' emotions can cling to his clothing like a scent, and that werewolves in particular can be a challenge because they tend to feel strongly, frequently, and sometimes out of their own control.

The deeper plots emerging by this point in the story are both intriguing and fraught with peril. I like that more than one serious thing is going on at the same time. There's the bigger picture plotline involving the high court of the seelie, and the much more local situation with Lester . . . either of which could end up involving Mick getting killed. Tension is high!

Your writing displays a lot of skill, and I love how you interweave the normal and the paranormal in this setting. Well done!

In today's itinerary of things I thought I didn't want anymore but definitely needed; playtime with Mick, Guy, Takashi and Riley, minus Zeru, narrated by Mick.
I had thought I wouldn't remember the story much anymore since it's been so long, but it all came back as I read it, it's so damn amazing.
I was legit rolling around, squirming in bed, giggling uncontrollably.
And then crying because it's so beautiful. The whole thing about Mick's empathy being better now, and Guy's slight insecurities about being in a polyamorous relationship, Mick's mother and sister, everything else, what's not to love?
The chapter was also so deliciously long, compared to the wait. It's alright, I know how is it when life gets busy and you can't write/post much.
Still loved this chapter so fucking much, I'm kinda surprised I havent yet died of happiness overdose. This is the single most best piece of writing I've read this week and believe me, I read a fucking lot. Like, probably around 500k words a week lot.
Now, to quote Riley, "I want more."

I really really reallllllllyyyyyy love Nate's family! His mum and sister. Especially his mothers reaction to "they". Instead of horrified she was like how many men have you got wrapped around your finger? Oooh. I hope he can really reveal the truth to them, and in turn, also tell them about the multiple lovers. Because I really want an introduction scene between Nate's family and his men. Gosh, I really love Riley and Takashi and Guy. It's just the perfect combination, isnt it? I've got so many contradictory preferences that finding such a guy is impossible. But in this story, Nate gets everything from all three guys. Damn man, you scored a good one, didnt you? The Hollow is doing a good job of protecting him too, otherwise Tigger almost got Nate to agree to stay with him as his, didnt he? That would have been bad. Would be waiting for the next chapter very very verrrryyyyy eagerly!

Ah so, the story, uh, doesnt have a, uhmm, self harm content warning... anywhere that I've seen yet. But there is in all your other stories.

So... as a student extremely interested in psycholgy, I empathized with Guy in which chapter and almost sided with him. But taking into consideration that this story is from Mick's point of view, and that he is an Empath, and I /GET/ his reasons and Guy doesn't and it's not as easy as it looks, wow. Guy, you screwed up a little. I expected more from a person who'd studied psycholgy. Villains like Lester who genuinely think their victims enjoy their... ah... ministrations... creep the fuck out of me. For a second I thought he was some random ex or something, but wowwwww. And even tho Mick's mother seems like a really likeable character, she made some real bacld character judgement mistakes when remarrying, hmm? That too not even an year after her husband's death. (As far as I recall.)

Enjoying the story so far. Let's see what happens next! I ope I dont get too caught up and forget to sleep. That would be unpleasant...
