Well, I like how Lube is something the tools need to survive, because just like in real life, Tools need a little oil now and then.
Xi almost killed Piqa! Which I guess is a lesson for her, because sometimes rebellions don't hurt you... but instead, the people who follow you. Still amazing job!
I also liked the line "Longstanding friendships had the dust blown off of them with a few jokes." Great sentence! :D

Wow.
Guess beauty really is everywhere, even in the Conflict Zone, and I can't wait to see happens with not only Xi's recovery as well as this new discovering.
Having Piqa wake up in shock as he flashed back to the episode with the User was incredible, and I love that PTSD aspect.

Well, first off I read between the lines with Fletcher, but cute clueless Piqa is always fun!
The paragraph with Ayn and Piqa having a discussion over Xi's beauty was heartfelt and sweet, and having Piqa see Ayn as beautiful was touching.

I really loved your description of the Craftsman, it made him seem so powerful and so intimidating at the same time, and I also liked how you had the forcefields around the Craftsmen's buildings... adds an air of mystery to their character.
I loved Piqa's literal interpretations of the Craftsman's words, although they do make sense because if my friend were in a coma and the only way I could help her was going to a scary man... I'd be literal too, good thing Ayn kept his head.
Can't wait to see where this goes! :)

Turns out this chapter did almost nothing to relieve the tension of the last chapter :(

Now my question is, what is a Scramble Alert? Can't wait to find out!

Sorry, I blacked out for a second there... this chapter messed with me in several crazy ways. First I had a small panic attack upon seeing that Xi was wounded and had to be carried back to base, then I screamed at Xi during the flashback scene, and I did some deep thinking over the ending about the Users and Tools...
This was perfect my friend :)

Having the fight be from Piqa's perceptive and having us watch it along with him just made it sadder, because I can't even be sad or mad... I'm just confused.
However having Ayn hold Xi back from fighting the Warhammer jerk is touching, and impressive. Xi's a force of nature so having him hold her is something I didn't expect.
And your word choice *Squeals* As perfect as always! "Like someone who's been asked to accomplish an impossible task; it is perplexingly ill-matched to the simplicity of Ayn's request"

Well this is awkward...
Why do I get the feeling Xi is just going to start a fight?
I love how Ayn and Piqa have to hide the incident because Xi will go crazy... kinda like having the incredible hulk on your team, the anger is uncontrollable, and it shows that sometimes your greatest strength is your greatest weakness.
And one against eighty or more... phfft! I can take them!

Fight fight fight! :D
Okay here's the review: The battle was very well written, especially with the various tools fighting in the style that suits them best. Arrows at long range, spears and swords on the front lines, and Warhammers being unpredictable powerhouses. Having Xi reflect on her partnership with Ayn and the purpose of a shield without a sword was a good way to end the chapter. (Still, shields don't need swords to be weapons, just ask any of the Captain Americas!)
I would have liked to see a bit more of the battle, maybe a better description of what the hostiles are or maybe have Xi and Ayn take out a few more. But it was still enough to get me engaged.
And that last question... what do you say to someone who's only job is to protect? Hmm... that's tough.

Incredible!
I'm starting to run out of positive words for this story, but this was perfect!
You built up the tension for a battle very clearly, describing the terrain and what was happening in the Mutt, very well done there.
Then having Xi's flashback as well as the explanation of what a "weapon" was and how they fight was also interesting, plus it would help the coming fight run smoother. I like the different classes of weapons and how being an "Arrow, spear, or Warhammer" effects how they use their energy.
And while I wouldn't call archers cowards, I am definitely a sword fighter myself, so I can understand Xi.
I really feel like Xi and I would get along, especially if she had braids :)
Can't wait for the next chapter! Keep it up :D
