I had a good chuckle when Prudence once again showed George up, that was just great. Thanks for another awesome chapter!

Bridgewater the fool, you stupid, stupid coward of a man.. Because he is a coward for not wanting to open himself up to the possibility of love for fear of heartbreak. I'm also really happy to see that Prudence has some backbone on her, more so than I originally thought. I have a feeling I'm going to end up staying up late in lieu of studying for my final exams to find out what happens next.

Ugh, George is an idiot and Charles is a deplorable, backhanded, and arrogant human being. Bridgewater the fool as I am now so eloquently calling him, needs to do something quick. Maybe he could buy her a puppy or something. Not that Prudence could be so easily bought, I like to think.

I love the fact that Prudence surpasses George in chess and I hope that she continues to surprise him. I also can't wait for Prudence and Bridgewater to leave so that perhaps there will be no more Charles or Bambreich. *crosses my fingers* They irk me to no end. Thanks for another wonderful chapter!

I got so carried away with reading each chapter I forgot to post a review on them. I am completely immersed in Prudence's world now and I find myself loathing Wyndham and hoping that Bridgewater and Prudence find love. I'm excited to read more!

Wow you really know your stuff! This story is absolutely amazing and I'm excited to see where it goes. I have a hard time sticking with stories on this website due to the horrendous amount of grammatical errors but I have a feeling I will be with this one for the long haul. Great job!

Hot as Tar got my attention, but I decided to start with this story. My, so many reviews. Good on you, and good on them for spurring you on! I haven’t read them all, so pardon redundancy. I agree with many that you bring the characters to life. They make the story. I don’t like or dislike the sons; they are products of their time and stations. I suspect that, had Charles been first born, he might have turned out well, although, had he not, he would not have been open to Prudence’s restorations. George is nothing special; absent Prudence, he would have turned into Percival.
Angelique likewise is nothing special, a product of her time and station. The contrast between the two fathers helps me understand the draw of Puritanism. Prudence’s father is the better father and far the better businessman. That Prudence’s dowry should be required to rescue George from his mistress’s excesses is ridiculous; any Puritan or Calvinist can see that. (I’m Presbyterian, close enough.)
Prudence is exceptional, an outlier, more than a century ahead of her time in the way that she pulls what is best from her religion.
Noellesco (reviewing Ch. 30) said a lot of what I might have said. I differ with this and other reviewers, however, when they say you rushed the ending. Once the main plot begins to resolve, you must move quickly as you did: a long denouement kills a story like this one. The unresolved plot threads bother me little, and I could have done without the epilog entirely. Had you stopped with Ch. 29, few would have complained about unresolved threads.
Good story!

Very cute. Well done, if a bit rushed given the dynamic. The drama didn't rise as high as I had imagined and it tied up a bit too neatly too fast given all the potentially delicious intense emotions; still it was an enjoyable read and skillfully written.

Glad I kept reading...I've ended up loving this story rather a lot.
I'm blaming the author when I don't wake up till noon later though...

You're learning. You'll make an excellent husband yet. And father too. Half the battle is in not regretting have a daughter...

...and here I was suspecting Charles. I've lost my touch at predicting stories.
