How handy that the random book Danya bought happened to be about fighting magic! :P

I love that we're seeing more of Simon's goals. I'm definitely curious about what makes him want equality for mages and human; is he just a good guy or is there more backstory? Also love that we can see how weary it's making Danya to be kept from touching all the time.

Love it, love it, love it!

I wonder why Simon only wanted him there for a single interview?

You absolutely must update again really soon. This chapter was utterly fantastic. Job well done.

I'm really interested in that magic book Danya bought. I'm sure there's lots of interesting stuff in there he doesn't know.
I feel kinda sorry for Simon, tbh. He's trying so hard to treat Danya right and yet he still keeps doing pretty much everything wrong. xD But I'm glad he's finally gotten over his foul mood.
That last paragraph was pretty sad. Poor Danya, all lonely with nobody around to understand him...

Yay! An update! So exciting!

I kind of had a love-hate relationship with this chapter. On one hand, as a nosey reader I liked having so many things go my way; we found out what plans were complicated by having Danya, Danya spoke up for other slaves and himself, Simon and Danya became more touchy. I just...I don't know. Maybe I'm used to being teased by authors longer before the payout? And to have all the payouts at once kinda made them less special? I couldn't really make myself believe that someone who had been raised to obey and submit would just tarrets and throw a stick at an authority figure before thinking about it. I guess I'm just the kind of person who always thinks things through, who has never said something I later regretted in the heat of an arguement. I have to imagine such intense training would do the same. Especially since they literally bred him and thus raised him to be that way from birth. Fun fact: psychologists believe that personalities can only change up until the age of about 4 (exclusive of exceptionally traumatic events). That's why, despite his more...let's say impulsive...genetic tendencies, I still have a hard time believing that he would become so suddenly different. And then after he did so, his shock was very...mmmmm, brief? It was written, but it didn't feel like a broken paradigm, which is what it would be to always be taught to be submissive and then to lash out, and that's regardless of the hierarchy of races.

The sudden switch from distant to clingy was also really hard for me to justify. In past chapters, the only contact was functional; they only touched so Simon could use Danya as an ice pack. Then suddenly his this clingy? Have you read broken wings? It's another Mage story. It also had relatively distant characters become suddenly touchy as a side effect of over use of magic (her character because he needed grounding, yours because he was cold). I think the difference in believability comes from the psychological states of each of the characters. Danya was lucid, cold for the first time ever, but lucid. Thus it feels like he would be more reluctant to initiate contact or further it with a master he believes doesn't even want him, let alone that wants to kill him. Especially since he was just slitting his wrist and contemplating fighting vampires on his own to get away from him in the immediately preceding chapter.

I guess it just felt like a lot of big leaps for a single chapter to make.

Wow, this was fantastic. I eagerly await your next update, because, damn, this story is amazing. You did an awesome job creating characters and a solid plot. I really, really want another update.

I love Danya planning out every little move... It is the soldier in him, huh?

Oh no more vamps...

Now we know why the inn owner really didn't want the mate there.

Oh no! Sorry, I tried to type "to share" and apparently my phone auto-corrected it to "Sharif". I'm so excited to see this story progress. I love it SO MUCH already, and it's only been 4 chapters! I'm really surprised it's only had 16 reviews. That's so weird to me. It deserves way more attention. Anyways, thanks again for sharing this story! I can't wait to read the next chapter!

Love this! Please continue sharif more chapters! Do you update on a particular schedule, or just whenever you finish a new chapter? I love Mage stories and I love slave fics. The fact that he's hiding some of his abilities makes him a badass too. Love it! Please continue!

Well what do you suppose vampires are after them for. Its certainly not just the blood. I think simon might be more inclinded to keep danya if he knew what he could do.

Another nice chapter. It's interesting to see how they deal with vampires and Simon and Hamish's reaction to Danya's actions. You'd think they would keep Danya now that he's proved so useful. He could really help make their job easier.

Okay, that was damn close. I wonder why there was a trap in the first place. Maybe some sort of sacrifice so the owner would be spared from the vampires? Or maybe it was an enemy of Simon and/or Hamish that set the trap...
Simon might be a jerk at times, but I really don't think he ever seriously wanted to have Danya killed. He just doesn't seem like that kind of guy. Hopefully he realizes now that Danya is actually good for something other than cleaning his clothes and keeping him cool on a hot day...
