OH my god this was super long. I'm so glad! Oh Braden you make me so mad! I just wanna slap you in the back of the head and just be like "STOP BEING DUMB AND GO GET YOUR MAN!" At least he got it together and managed to fucking address Riley, his uncle, Irene AND Jase all in one day. He may be a tear-streaked, over-thinking mess of a man, but he sure knows how to handle business when the time comes. I am so loving this vulnerable yet assured side of Jase! So precious! Braden will fold in no time!
It doesn't seem like it needs to be altered at all! Can't wait for more goodness!

Haha Yes, Braden's version of yolo reminds me of my response to people who do dumb stuff and say yolo... You only die once too.
The list is a great idea. I think Irene would like her finally resting place. It"s good to know Braden's uncle isn't a cheater...
And Braden's confession pretty much sounds like love to me, even if he doesn't realize it yet.

I loved this chapter! Braden and Jase are so good for each other. They are also both very strongly characterised and likeable. The depiction of their 1st "I love you" was awesome in that it was dramatic enough to be interesting while still being realistic. I think that Braden probably is in love with Jase. Braden's descriptions of being able to be himself around Jase seem very similar to that conversation they had where Jase described what it feels like to be in love.
Also, in a way I don't want to say this because selfishly I want more updates, but honestly the time between your updates is nothing. Like, whenever you apologize for it taking a while, I would still say its faster than my expectations. At your peak it was almost superhuman how quickly you were updating lol. So don't worry about making us wait! I also want to thank you for sharing this. I am just finishing up an incredibly stressful semester (which is why I have been so bad at leaving reviews), and reading HCOCI was one of my few pleasures haha. I truly appreciate the time you've put into writing these (240k!) words.

ShooWee! Crisis averted, for the most part. I can't imagine having all these thoughts circling around in my mind and not being able to grasp them and sort them out. I would be dog tried all the time, if I had a brain like Braden. He did make a huge step into getting his feelings put on paper to help him focus and I think he truly does love Jase and I would think that he knows this after all that Braden said.

This is perfect. I don't think you really need to flesh anything out because you've got everything across in such an excellent way already.
While I love a bit of angst I'm pleased it didn't spill over into the next chapter, though I'm sure this means the story will be coming to an end soon.

The sweetness of this chapter overcame that my daughter was loudly killing zombies while I was reading it. I'm kind of on Braden's side with his brother, though. He didn't get to pick his dad. If his dad isn't a good thing in his life then he's not a bad person for not wanting his dad in his life. It's reasonable for Braden not to want to have to deal with all that. If his life is better and happier for not having his dad in it, then he made the right decision. Now, if Riley is happier with his dad in his life and he wants to put up with the verbal abuse, stress, and other stuff then that is fine for him. He shouldn't demand the same from Braden, though. That's unfair and unreasonable. And I don't like Riley trying to undermine the relationship Braden has with his uncle. Braden just seems to be doing better. I worry about his dad messing that up for him. Love this story. I'm all caught up with the characters. xoxo Robin

I'm pretty sure that he wanted to say it earlier but it wasn't the right time. Not that, that moment was ideal but the opening was there and in true Jase fashion he addressed it. Braden I believe feels the same way and once he figures out that what he felt for Shiloh doesn't even compare he'll know for sure that he truly loves Jase.

I hope Braden isn't going to freak out! He's going to freak out, isn't he? I mean he should of been expecting Jase to say something like that, it's been kind of obvious. Even Vi suggested to him that it was a possibility, he should have been preparing himself for the possibility that it's true. But I suppose he just didn't really want to think about it. I'm excited to see how he is going to react. I just hope that he doesn't freak out...

I am actually in love with this story. This chapter pretty much killed me, especially the ending (A tear may or may not have slipped out of my eye). I am sooo glad I decided to read this and you are amazing. I have enjoyed everything about this story, flashbacks included because they brief us on Braden's past and that's vital information if I do say so myself! Jase is amazing. Do guys like that actually exist? If so, I would love to meet them and hopefully they're similar to Jase but you know... heterosexual or else it would be pointless for me... Anyways, haha.
