[I have tried, day in and day out, but the question remains; how do you love yourself?]

Make sure to use sentence-connecting semicolons sparingly and only when the ideas in the clauses are inseparable.

When the narrator mentions how do you love yourself, and then goes on about how they haven't felt sad in a while, that's not entirely true. Clearly she's depressed and upset, which prompts the question in the first place.
