[Admittedly, I was a mess; my hair was oily and in desperate need of a deep-conditioning, and the bags under my eyes could've passed for giant bruises.]

Make sure to use sentence-connecting semicolons sparingly and only when the ideas in the clauses are inseparable.

So far, it's nice. I really like the little details Jodie mentions about the airport and Newell. It ends a bit too abruptly though. There's not much happening aside from her returning home from the airport.
