Aww amnesia Brett is super cute. Man, I want a cute guy with amnesia to call me the cute girl. Ugh, Aubrey has it made.
Honestly I think this is a perfect ending to this, and him running into the door was perfect. It reminded me of Kelso on That 70s Show and that show was a total classic. I love how you see Becky's true colors with her abandoning Brett and I love how Aubrey kind of won him. I can't tell if there'd be more guilt with the move, but it seemed good to me. This was a really cute piece. I'm glad I got to read it! Still a tiny bit more Team Brett, but they get to be on the same team with HTCAK so we're all good.
One thing that threw me off, though, was the way Brett acted. Im no expert on retrograde amnesia, but wouldn't he recognize hunger if all his bodily functions remain understandable to him? But, it's all good. I wasn't taken out of the story or anything.

Oh my God, Becky is such a bitch (me talking about the last chapter). Who doesn't give people their trophies? SMH But I did love the Helena mention!
Ah, this chapter was great. Aubrey is being so assertive and I love how she just gives zero shits about hospital protocol or unhappy family. But that scene, man. It's so sad and so cute and so kind of bad of Aubrey to do but it works so well in the story and this chapter just overwhelmed me in feels. And I love Margot and Marilynn just gasping in the background like "this bitch hated our son for years and now she wants to be BFFs"? Also, tell me again, did Bree tell Brett that they were enemies during HTCAK? I don't remember him being that mad about it, so I guess the discussion went over well. Or does she explain some other time that they were enemies but like each other now?

Oh shit that was so intense! As much as I'm revealing myself to be a sadist here, I think this is my favorite chapter in the book so far. You just hit all the right notes. The description of the action was perfect. The atmosphere was well developed. The emotion was on high.
Then, shit, you described that car crash perfectly. Like usually I have a hard time understanding what writers are talking about when they describe scenes that are so visual like this, but you nailed it. I got the picture. And shit, it was brutal. Like, I was cringing based on my own mental picture. That line where Bree didn't want to see his back, I felt that.
And then, ugh I actually started getting teary. Poor Brett. I know he's okay, but that realization that someone you treated like shit would do something so amazing for you and you don't know if you'll ever be able to thank them...that's rough. Ugh I clearly need to get to the next chapter so I can get my happy events again.

I love how melodramatic the quote was at the beginning of this chapter. It reminded me of Kylo Ren and Rey for some reason.

Okay since the chapters are a bit shorter I'm gonna try to review them two at a time.
From chapter 7, I really enjoyed the way Brett and Bree really got to bond. It's so funny how they hated each other for so long when it was clear that there wasn't really anything to found it. While their banter is always entertaining, it feels like the most natural progression for the characters to start acting more amiable toward one another. Plus, their little text exchange at the end was so cute. Ugh please keep being cute.
From chapter 8, I love when Mariah points out that Aubrey started using Brett's actual name. Ah, I love how not subtle these guys are. If they manage to figure something out before other people do, I'll be impressed (and actually lol I can't remember a time they Sherlock figured out a situation before others. Although it must've happened in HTCAK)
Man is it bad that I'm just waiting for Brett to get hit by a car? That sounds so shitty. But I'm gonna keep reading for that to happen. Hopefully an interesting review will come out of that process.

Ugh my brain is shutting down from reading all day but I wanted to leave you some reviews so let's give this a shot.
I love the way the Bree/Brett dynamic is shifting, and I love how Mariah and co are all so aware of it but Bree is still at "I drank too much lake water." Oh, she'll learn soon. But, I'm interested to see how much Brett and Bree do reconcile before Brett saves her life. It'd be awesome if it was a major surprise for Aubrey that Brett does save her. Man, I still can't believe jerky Brett is going to be Clark Kent Glasses, Justin Bieber hair human Dory by the end of this. XD So excited.
Also...that Jason Voorhees line was great.

Hah for a moment I thought Becky wasn't that bad, but then she dropped that big head comment about Bree and I dunno, that just seems like a really rough kind of insult so I'm gonna keep not liking her.
Ah Brett you dumbass you looooooove Bree just admit it. And I love how the obsession starts with her hair. I feel like it's kinda cliche to start with eyes, so it's nice to know that Brett isn't like other guys. XD
Man I feel kinda bad for these campers. Brett and Bree seem so distracted by their own rivalry that like, do these kids even get acknowledgment? I want a story from the POV of one of the campers just going "our fucking counselors haven't had more than two lines of conversation with us in 3 days. Resolve is running low."
Oh Brett. Don't worry, child, one day soon your life will be changed and you won't be burdened by these conflicted feelings for Aubrey. Soon, it'll just be running from criminals and falling in love. Nice chapter!

Oh my God, I'm not dead! I feel so bad; I've been seeing these updates as they appear but I've been so busy with school and then I got an internship at a lit agency that requires me to read a book a week so I couldn't have more books in my life, but I'm gonna try to keep getting through these so i can be a good fan and be updated on all your work. :)
I really like that opening conversation between Mariah and Bree. She has a pretty good point about Bree's hatred of Brett. It's an interesting thought, because when people are shitty to you, you just kind of never entertain the thought that they're real people with lives as complicated as yours. And, sometimes you're probably right and they're total dicks unworthy of learning that full person, or they're Brett Zarzetta and will one day be your soulmate. ;) What a deep conversation for camp breakfast.
The archery scenes were great! I love how you lead in with the cute scene of the little kid making it onto the board then Brett just goes and fucks up all safety rules. Like, damn Brett even if you're Katniss Everdeen that's probably not advised. I kind of hope Bree goes on tells on him, just because I'm sure a camp would want to know that their counselors are shooting arrows not during a safe time and nearly killing their fellow counselors. I don't know if you've ever seen it, but this book is reminding me of Hot Wet American Summer, but played a bit more straight. It's a fun time, basically.
Also, that quote at the very beginning, the juxtaposing these deep quotes with Bree and Zarzetta's antics is too perfect.

What would you like to write next? I know you kind of threw it in the air for a while, but I'm curious. I think you should write Art's story next, but you don't have to if you have other ideas you care about more. I just think it would be a good idea to finish this story and plot in one swoop so (like you said) people won't forget anything important. It's your final decision, though.

You just want me to despise Becky, don't you? XD Like I said in a past review, this was a good idea. I can totally see why Aubrey had such a hard time bonding with Helena now. Helena is way more likable than Becky.
Brett running into the door frame at the end made me laugh out loud. Brett just runs into everything, doesn't he? That was one of my favorite little quirks of his from the original story. I know I mentioned the original story numerous times in these reviews, but I couldn't help it. I loved that story and I love this one as well!

Brett's cutesy thoughts about Aubrey were heartwarming. From your description of her, I can see why he'd find her so attractive. His comparison of her eyes to the sky during day break was sweet and matched his personality. I just want to give him a hug!

Becky is such a nasty person! A little off topic, but this story was a great idea because the reader gets to see just how horrible she is. We knew she was bad in the original, but we only knew through Aubrey's ranting. This gives us a different perspective (in a way).
You're one of the few writers I know who can explain a person's injuries enough to make me cringe, but not in enough detail to completely disgust me. Yet another reason why you're my fictionpress favorite! I can picture Brett in the hospital just from your description of the machinery he's attached to.
