Really enjoying this... a thought... no one living in Nova Scotia would refer to themselves as living in Northern Canada... The East Coast, The Maritimes or on a stretch Atlantic Canada (if they fet like including Newfoundland in the equation) but not Northern Canada.

I think this fic has the bones to become a very good story however I have had to bring my reading to halt. I’ll constructively explain why:
What’s Good
• The character pool
You’ve crafted a nice handful of diverse characters that have the potential to show unique perspectives on each other ie Ernest and his family being able to reveal a softer more homely side to Hunter.
• The setting and plot lines
I am really loving the setting and it’s idyllic remoteness in the wilds of Canada. By picking a small sleepy town you can really amp up the drama that would otherwise be overshadowed by a large city. By picking an unknown location in a rural setting you can definitely be creative and it serves well to the plot line of there being a dangerous stalker who’s after Emma and everyone wondering who in such a small intimate community did it.
What’s Bad
• Hunter and Emma
What I really look for in a fic is a good dynamic between characters and this is really lacking between these two. There’s clear sexual chemistry but ZERO substance. They never genuinely talk or communicate, it’s all empty and immature back and forth between them. The misogyny and inappropriateness of their relationship irks me. I can see the appeal of a hot cop with an attitude however I think this conflicts with the very central characteristics of a sheriff. He is meant to serve and protect so I don’t understand how someone so esteemed in the society would treat a lone woman at his door in the middle of the early morning with such a lack of concern. He also initiates this contract completely against Emma’s will and so forces her to be indebted to him: a theme apparent throughout this story so far.
The nature of their relationship is questionable, obviously routed in a BDSM or Dom/Sub dynamic but it almost feels like Hunter has completely taken advantage of an otherwise vulnerable 22 year old woman. He’s a grown man and Emma’s behaviour reflects exactly that so I don’t see the appeal this 29 year old man sees. What’s the the true attraction between them? What qualities do Hunter and Emma really exhibit? Is it just about lust and hardcore sex? Is there any true love there?
My points above are not in any way meant to “flame” or tear apart this story you have created. I really admire some of the elements in this story and your characterisation of Molly or Kat. You have really shown some personality in them. I think this story could really be fantastic with some more development and editing. I have a BA in English so this is where my critique comes from, I am very passionate about sorry telling and can see something very unique in your fic I just felt like some major things needed to be pointed out.

It's very interesting how Emma doesn't seem to have been murdered but kidnapped, and sneaky of the kidnappers to leave a fake note. Hunter should know better!

Also, Hunter has inexplicably fallen for her- well, it all seems pretty self-explanatory to me, but he hasn't caught up to us yet. He's gonna flip when he finds out what happened. I just hope Emma gets to fight her abductors on her own and not depend on her knight in shining armour, as much as I appreciate Hunter's manliness...Can't wait for more.
And yes, sure, a website sounds like a good idea. Anything for us to follow you and not get lost halfway...
