That was a fantastic chapter! I loved the twist on the kiddie center being a more teen oriented fun zone. It was the perfect excuse for Hawke and Pan to play around on the job. Lol. And they were obviously having way too much fun.
The cloak and dagger elements were exciting too. Sanders' current assignment turned out to be very fortuitous for Hawke. Not only did he save his bacon but he also pointed him in the right direction. I wonder how Hawke will react when he discovers just how his old soldier buddy knows Anna? ;)
It appears that Scorpion is not so easily cornered. His and the Guild's resources are no doubt well informed and on top of things, but you don't garner a reputation like Scorpion's by being easy prey.
I was stunned to see Pan so forthcoming about Nicholas' bad habits when the discussion of The Master was passing the miles away. I can understand his relief though. Carrying that secret burden around for centuries was weighing heavily upon his adolescent shoulders. Perhaps now he can enlist some assistance and not bear the worrisome chore alone. He surely must have been feeling some guilt for concealing what he believes to be his brother's gruesome acts. And every mention of The Master only stirs more intrigue and anticipation around his character.
And Big Bob seems to have turned into the Big Bad. Lol. I'm afraid Anna is about to get acquainted with more of the supernatural world she's unwittingly been submerged in. All kinds of stuff is about to hit the fan and Hawke is gonna be right in the air flow. Lol
Oh, and I really liked how Pan's alarmed reaction to dropping his phone stemmed from the possibility of being out of reach from Nadia. :)
This was an absolutely riveting chapter and one full of twists, shocks, intrigue, and heart-pounding events. It was as much fun as the kiddie center. ;) Superb storytelling!

That chapter was filled with all kinds of tension and frustration. ;) Hawke seems equally frazzled by the idea of finding his Mate and the idea of her not wanting a mated relationship. Lol. Pan's foul mood is understandable too considering the things plaguing his mind from where he'd just left. I'm glad the two of them were able to hash out some woes though. Maybe now they can focus a little better on the mission at hand.
I wouldn't wanna be in Hawke's shoes after cutting out on Anna, esp before the waves of sexual bliss had even subsided. He might be in for a real fight later on at the Iron Pit. ;)
And Pan's encounter with native Alabama wild life was hilarious! Lol. I can still see that snapper munching happily on vampire meat. Lol.
Great chapter and great writing. The anticipation for Scorpion's arrival is sky high now. Hawke and Pan still seem a little discombobulated. Maybe a little life threatening action will clear their minds. ;)

Great chapter. So, Hawke and Pan now know each others secrets that link them both to The Master. The question is, who was the one who set them up at the play centre? I can't wait to find out.

Another great steamy chapter. I loved how you made that early morning scene a flashback from Hawke's memory. I'm glad he now realises that she is his Mate. Now he just has to convince himself of the fact being her God father isn't an issue. Then he has to convince her that its a good idea lol. I can't wait to see how that all works out :)

Nobody trades blows more intensely than brothers. Lol. Pan and Nicholas' rough housing was bound to happen sooner or later. Nicholas' cocky, provocative new attitude was the perfect trigger and also a tell-tale sign of his loosening screws. It's going to be hard for Pan to stay focused on his mission with Hawke with the unnerving thoughts of what his brother is most likely up to in his absence. Pan's decades of diligently being his brother's keeper are coming undone thanks to circumstances beyond his control. Pan's frustration at this is palpable.
Megan's conversation with Tilly was both adorable and highly entertaining. Lol. I think you captured the mindset and disposition of our canine counterparts perfectly. Lol. It's always fun to return to the manor and catch up with various characters. I agree with Pan, there is never a dull moment there, and Alex's experiment with Riley proved a lot of potential for the growing tyke. ;)
Pan does carry heavy burdens and it seems the dams of his frustrations are bulging. Not being endowed with the full prowess of manhood probably never bothered him as much until Nadia. Before his emerging feelings for her he had duty and responsibility to keep him otherwise occupied. Now he's finding that all those things clash with his longing to be what he cannot be nor has ever been: a man by every definition of the word. His plight is torturous indeed.
Great writing and another fantastic chapter. I really loved the brotherly throw down in Saladin's office. Lol

A very compelling chapter from Anna's standpoint. Learning a bit about the history of vampirism and how the bloodlines are diluted through successive generations of sires/fledglings was very intriguing. Hawke's concise and informative explanations also served to arouse even more curiosity around the Master too.
And speaking of arousing, the sleep remedy was very erotic. ;) It did end on a somewhat romantic note though. :) I like Anna's inner contemplation of viewing Hawke's duality. Man or monster? Human or vampire? All of the above? That has always been one of the fascinating aspects of vampires and werewolves to me, and it's only fair for Anna to consider these things.
Also, the mention of Clint's affair stirred some more curiosity, but even more so was the fact that it wasn't the primary cause of Anna's estrangement from her father. Can't wait to find out more on that subject. And I can't wait for Pan! Things are about to get all kinds of interesting in B'ham. ;)

Loved this chapter. That was a great way to get Hawke to sleep. I wasn't expecting that ;) I can't wait for more. I love the tense attraction they have with each other. Update soon!

I love the interplay between Anna and Hawke especially the scene where Anna threw the hammer at him; that was too cute. But why is the meeting with Scorpion being moved and what does it mean for Anna and particularly Hawke who needs to feed? Looking forward to finding out in the next chapter.

With every mention of The Master I feel his foreboding tentacles reaching deeper into the fabric of not only this story, but the entire series. Clearly he is an ominous force scheming behind the scenes to conduct his will through his minions, whether they be hapless about it or not. I'm loving the connections to his presence as they unfold. It seems he is the sire to several key players here, and that makes one wonder about his dark intentions. Nicely done.
And the chemistry between Hawk and Anna is flaring terrifically. She, the strong-willed and confident woman who is not afraid to follow or embrace her own desires and wants; and him, the duty-bound soldier who is losing the battle with rationale and self discipline. Of course in Hawke's defense, as we learned here in this very compelling chapter, he hasn't known much outside of duty, until now. ;)
Great chapter and the build up towards the Scorpion's arrival is now seething with anticipation. There's a lot on the line for all involved it seems, and Hawke and Anna are gonna have to bring their A-games if they wanna catch a Scorpion without getting stung. ;)

Great chapter. Things are hotting up between Anna and Hawke even if they don't know it yet, I love it. Anna's determined to have her 'casual fling' and Hawke is determined not to. He has no hope, hee hee hee. Can't wait for more. Update soon.

So is Nicholas the serial killer? Or did I read it wrong? And what of Marek? I think he needs Alaric's help, of course that's after he's been disembodied. Great chapter. - Shelley

Good chapter. Anna is something else. Does she have no fear? But I love the interaction between Anna and Hawke, so I'm onto the next chapter. - Shelley
