I would have liked some profound insight into the secret of the universe, but I’m afraid, like all those spectators, I didn’t get it. (Assuming that we are supposed to ‘get’ it?) There appeared to be a bunch of clues in place that the reader is supposed to put together, but it’s too clever or obscure for me, as I couldn’t make sense of it. Having much experience as a lonely girl myself, I hoped that would give me some insight, but no.
Really interesting story, though. The narrator’s voice was strong and it flowed pretty well. Some distracting typos (particularly towards the end) but the build up of mystery was great (although maddening). It has the feel of a really great story, but didn’t quite make it (for me).
