Joy was definitely outplayed by Grant but I like the way she tried to take some control back by wearing that dress. Hopefully she’ll stand her ground against Grant, while also finding out what’s happened to Lady Simms!

I wonder what’s happened with Lady Simms! I like the mystery in this chapter and Joy’s sleepy sass was cute and funny. She really fought her own corner in this chapter! The line about the horse noticing anything unusual made me laugh!

I’m glad to see Joy wanting to get involved in the case and in the intrigue! I liked seeing her being active and taking part in all the little practices like her horse riding and her French lessons! I liked Alice at the end too – it reminds me how me and George have been watching Downton Abbey and I want the aristocratic Sybil and the lady’s maid, Gwen, to get together across their classes!

Sounds like Johnny O’Brien has a vendetta against Grant Callahan. I wonder what his background is. It is nice for Joy to get an ally here, perhaps she can work out what she wants from it all, and if she wants to join in on the vendetta too!

I liked this chapter! I would have liked to have seen more of Joy interacting with the party, just to see her wit - or the opposite, if she is feeling quite intimidated by events! That would have really given more backing to why she wants to make a stand on her own and reject Grant's offer. I just want to see more of her own personal drive and motivation - why she is doing these things! But the interaction with Grant was nice, and it was good to see that she didn't just fall for his charms, which he was obviously trying to put over her. And I'm really intrigued by the cursed jewels too! That sounds interesting!

It’s funny how much I have got to know exactly the kind of female protagonist you like to write about - and her older mentor figures! This was a cute continuation, by the way. I am so excited about seeing more of the family relationships you said you wanted to write too!

Interesting! I think this could make an intriguing plot - I suppose that Grant Callahan will be the romantic interest? I would love to hear more about Joy’s character - I think talking about her emotions rather than her figure and smile would have been a more powerful introduction, as the poor girl was grieving! But you got me thinking of how I would love to do a plot like this, with a conflict of interest over a creepy, old estate!
