Dear Author, I must say that you write angst really well. The feelings and emotions played out exquisitely, and it's great that you don't shy away from the dark side of humanity without making the narrative sickening.
These people should just commit treason - imprison Cyrille somewhere and have Erec rule as regent, since the king's incapacitated with grief and depravity. The paladins can manage the conquest of Gascony on their own. Curious about how Collette and Sybille are managing with their pregnancies.

Such human emotions and decisions of the King and Queen but I feel disappointed in both.
I wish this chapter was not written in the passive tone it was. I wished to read what Laudine did and went through instead of it being recounted.
Poor Manon. She just lost her mom... she needs a hug first. Such a burden on and so responsible.
The paladins being together while they had to suddenly leave and reach in two days... the timeline doesn't match up.
But can I just say all of them together waiting to land was so awesome... I could imagine a poster of their silhouette in the wind. Anime vibes lol

Oh damn! This is by far the best chapter - plot-wise - in the entire paladin series. I knew Jacques was Didier's biological son from the moment it was revealed that the former's illegitimate. No one else could have raped Sabine. Manon's marriage plans were easy enough to predict too; her being a paladin - great. But Radelle - that was brilliant foreshadowing. Everything everyone's done for peace has just collapsed in the worst possible way. Did Didier actually kill her so that he'd orchestrate an equal loss for Sabine and get Gascony's throne? More and more he seems responsible for everything that happened. Radelle though, in being a mother, turned herself in Vasconia's worst queen - because even any semblance of peaceful resolution has just been blown to smithereens. In saving her daughter, she sacrificed her country. The way forward is going to be so rough, it makes me want to cry. And kudos to you as a writer for having a prominent character killed so brutally - that takes courage and it's so hard to write. The writing was seamless, well done.

Wow another great chapter! The healing process is difficult, it’s like you take two steps forward then 5 steps back. But I’m enjoying seeing the process for both Laudine and Gael and learning what happened the night king Robert died. Hopefully this doesn’t derail the treaty signing too much. Very excited to read the next chapter!
