This is really well written, I can totally identify with this, how a familiar smell can flood back memories and emotions and overwhelm us. The feeling of loss is tangible, the memories start as a warm remembrance and escalate into an almost desperate longing by the end. It feels haunting, how something like an invisible scent can plunge us so deeply back into heartache.

This poem made me really curious. What did the perfume smell like? Where did they go? Why is there such a loss? But I guess we have all been there - on the losing end of a bargain and having nothing but our tears to trade.

I read your story, and I really liked it! I want to convert it into a comic, but only if I have your permission. As a comic commission artist, I have some ideas for you that I’d love to share!
