Today was going to be perfect. I had been waiting forever for my 16th birthday, the most important one of them all. No,
it's not important becuase I get my driver's license or anything ordinary like that. Being 16 allows me to start my vampire
hunter training. I will become a 201st generation hunter and, hopefully, I'll finally be better at something than my older
brother Bobby. For once, I have the advantage: I'm stronger, faster, and overall just plain better than Bobby could ever
dream about being! There'll be no more " Bobby this" or " Bobby that." No more " You should be more like Bobby";no, never
again!

I got out of bed early this morning, anxious to start the day. Right as I got to the bathroom, Bobby squeezed pass me,
slamming the door shut with an evil laugh. As much as I hated him, I wasn't about ready to let him ruin my day. Finally,
after about an hour, Bobby came out. He looked over at me before saying," Oh, were you waiting, Ben? I didn't notice.
By the way, there's no hot water left. Enjoy your day, but don't think for one minute that you'll ever be better than
me, twerp!" I sighed, knowing that he would undoubtfully torture me the whole day. After a quick, freezing shower, I
changed into an old pair of jeans and a red shirt. Just as I was about ready to head downstairs for breakfast, I latched on
the red stone necklace that I had always wore since birth. I'm not really sure why I always wear it, I suppose it's becuase
it was the last thing mom gave me before she died.

Around 12, dad took me down to the DMV to get my license. I passed with flying colors, even though my mind was on later
tonight. Finally, 7 o'clock rolled around. Dad and Bobby drove Bobby's bright yellow viper while I followed behind in my
red F-250 truck. The twenty minute drove led us a good 10 miles out of town until we turned down some dusty old side road
which appeared to lead into the lush forest up ahead. Upon entering the forest, a large group of people who are dressed in
black with red sashes stood in front of us. I got out of my car, looking around at everyone. Dad and Bobby joined the large
group of people as some tall man with long grey hair came up to me.

" Ah, young Ben Myer. Today is the day, isn't it? Ready to follow in the family footsteps, I see. My name is James; I am
the master of Circle Twilight, the best vampire hunters in the world. I'm sure you can't wait to start the training, so I
shall delay no longer. Follow me, young'n!"

I followed close behind him, feeling awkward underneath the staring eyes of the older members. James noticed and let out a
hearty laugh. " Listen closely, young Ben," he exclaimed as he led me into a small hut," Never ever let anyone get to you,
no matter what. Do you understand? Of course you do! Now, don't let Bobby get to you either. He's a cocky lil' sucker, but
he's a decent fighter. I expect great things from you, Ben. Your father tells me that you have the potential to be better
that Bobby, so I expect to see that, you hear? Before we start your training, I need a small sample of your blood. It's
just a standard test." I nodded silently, not really sure how to respond to all of that. After he drew some of my blood, he
handed me the black uniform and led me to the training grounds.

The training lasted for an entire 24 hours. It would be an understatement to say that I was exhausted, but it was all so
worth it. While I was changing back into my clothes the next day, I overhead the master and trainers talking to my dad.
They were quite pleased with what they had seen. The master even mentioned something about me being one of the best young
talents the circle had seen since the late Danni Green. Ever since I had been about 13, my dad had told stories to me
about the best hunter still alive. I had only found out last year that she was only 18 and dating Bobby.

I drove dad home about an hour later. He rambled on the entire drive about how well I had done. I loved all the attention
at first, but it got old and boring after while. Once we got back home, I found Bobby and Danni on the couch, watching some
old western movie. " Hey, Benny! Congrats, I heard about how well you did. Looks like I'm gonna need to watch my back
because of you," Danni exclaimed excitedly as she messed up my blonde hair," I have a test today, Benny! Going out to try
and be a trainer. Ooo, can I wear your necklace for good luck? Pleassssssse?" Bobby glared at me evilly as I handed it over
to her. I didn't really like anyone else wearing it, but since it would piss off Bobby, I gladly handed it over. Bobby got
seriously mad as he pulled her back down onto the couch to pay attention to him. I laughed as I went upstairs to my room
and fell into a deep sleep.

I woke up late in the night to the sounds of squealing tires. For some odd reason, I had a huge hunger pain, but it seemed
more intense than a usual late night one. I went back to bed, only to wake up a half hour later. This time, I heard voices
from downstairs. One of them was dad's and another was the master's, but I didn't recognize the other two. Suddenly, there
was a yell as I heard footsteps coming up the stairs at a fast rate. I quickly sat up in bed, suddenly very scared. My door
was shoved open as my dad and the master came in with two other people. The other two moved quickly around the room and
pinned me down to my bed.

" What the hell is going on here? Get off me!"

" Don't make this any harder, Ben."

" Make what harder, dad? Someone wanna tell me what's going on?"

" Calm yourself down, young Ben. The circle was going over your blood test earlier. After a DNA test, we discovered that
your mother's genes were there, but your father's wasn't. The male half belonged to Damien. Does that name sound fimilar to
you at all?"

" Of course it does! He's only the head vamp...oh hell no! You are not fuc.."

" Ben! That is enough!"

" Please, let me handle this. Ben, I assume you understands what this means? Your mother must have had an affair with
Damien and thus, you are a vampire. That red stone on the necklace that you gave to Danni is quite powerful. It kept your
blood cravings away."

" You can't be serious! Dad, tell him this is a big mistake!"

" Young Ben, I'm sorry to have to be the bearer of bad news, but we had to tell you so that you'll understand our motives."

" Motives?"

" It's our sworn duty to destroy all creatures of the undead, and you, Ben, are one of them. Such a pity too."

" Screw you!"

The master then pulled out a wooden stake and passed it over to dad. He took it and moved closer to me while the two guys
held me tighter. I wasn't about to die, nor except the fact that I was a vampire, but in a situation like this, I had no
choice. I remember studying about all the powers a vampire had. Strength and speed happened to be some of them. " Sorry,
dad, but I ain't dying tonight," I exclaimed as I kicked him below the belt. I managed to get one of my arms loose and I
used it to knock one of the guys off the bed with a mighty punch. I grabbed the other one and head-butted him. Quickly, I
punched out the window and jumped out. As soon as I hit the ground, I rolled. I got back up as I began to run.

After running for awhile, I lost the group of hunters who had been after me since I had left the house. I wasn't really
tired, even though I knew I should have been. I was finally excepting the truth as to what I was. I felt bad for my dad,
who was probally still doubled over in pain. It would take awhile to adjust, but I think I'll start to enjoy these new
found powers once I discover them all. As I stopped behind a building, I felt a huge need for blood suddenly. I sank down
to the ground, curled into a little ball. All of this was too much to handle at once. I felt someone standing over me
suddenly. I looked up and saw a man standing there. " You'd be comin' wit me, Benny!"
