The Monotony of Stairs
The monotony strikes me
As I begin my ascent
One after the other
That's always the way they go
Continuous monotony
That leaves you gasping for breath
At the top
Head pounds from the change in
Altitude
Like breathing it's not
Thought about
One heavy clunk
Another heavy clunk
Inhale, exhale
Unused muscles creak and scream
And become used
Tired mind sloshes in the skull
Up, up, up
Down is a whole other story
That gets me thinking
About the monotony of stairs
