Chapter 1
At Mak spaceport
Ivan cautiously entered the spaceport's core. The core city was about the size of New New York, the replica of the original city. Ivan quickly glanced down at the address he had been given.
68/02 Sprit Cr.
He walked silently down the street, alone in his thoughts. What kind of job will it be this time, he wondered. Clients were always thinking of new things to occupy his crew to the best of their abilities. No one just wanted a smuggling job anymore. They all want the impossible, well at least improbable.
Ivan's train of thought was abruptly halted when he looked up to find himself at the intersegment of Sprit Cr. and Shaft 5. Soon after, he found himself at the building that he was to go to. Inside, a receptionist sat behind a marble desk. The room was large and was obviously made to impress the viewer.
"Hello, I have an appointment with CEO Breylan."
"May I see your card?"
He handed the receptionist the card and waited while she ran its access numbers into the cybernetic comlink. She looked up and said, "You may see him now, and I alerted him of your presence."
"Thanks"
Ivan again looked down at the address sheet.
Rm. 909, Floor 10
The lift was exceptionally large and made out of some sort of steel/crystal alloy. The ride to the tenth floor was a short one. As soon as Ivan stepped out, he came face to face with a pair of business men with an escort of three well armed guards. The guards gestured that he was to come with them while the other two men got onto the lift. The trio of guards brought Ivan to the office #909. Two of the guards left the room while one remained to stand watch.
The room had an immense emerald carpet and many exotic plants. In the corner there was a fish tank, and fish were a rare commodity these days. The entire back wall was made of clear steel and a large oaken desk sat in the middle of the room. The lone figure sitting at the desk turned.
"Hello, welcome to CornerStone Inc. I am Breylan."
"I have come to discuss business."
"Very well, have a seat."
Ivan noticed a chair by the desk and sat down. Business commenced.
