Chapter 5

"Steph, that bay looks empty," Rue said helpfully.

"Yeah, okay."

No sooner had the craft landed than an envoy of guards came through the door and flanked the craft. They made no advance toward entering the craft.

"Just play it cool, we'll get by them if we don't make them suspect us," Brent said.

Rue replied, "Yeah, nice idea. We'll be carrying EXPLOSIVES you moron."

"Use the cloaks," Ivan said coming up with the solution, "The cloaks will feel cold because it will have you vibrating at infrared frequencies below the visible light spectrum."

A ramp extended from the craft and hit the ground. The guards shouldered their weapons expectantly. The door opened, and to the surprise of the guards, no one was seen at the doorway. Then five of the guards fell, stunned. Before the rest of the guards could react, a soft, blue wave engulfed them and rendered them unconscious. Four people appeared out of nowhere.

Brent looked up. "Shit, there's a camera in here. It saw the whole thing."

Nobody heard his second sentence as it was drowned out by the alarm going off. However, they all knew what he said. Moreover, it seemed that someone had been expecting them. Why else send twenty guards to meet the craft?

The alarm went down again.

"Brent, Steph, you stay with the ship. Guard it at all costs. If Rue and I don't return in two hours, leave without us."
