Never paying up on made bets
Days of tag, red rover and hide and go peek.
Boo-boos, holding hands and getting lost
When even the small and the meek
Got to be the best.
What Happened to the days?
What happened to sticky golden stars?
Monsters under the bed
And visits to mars?
Why did we have to grow up?
Become guys and chicks
Why did life have to become so awful and smut
A world that someone else picks?
Why can't we turn back the clock
And go back to the days
Or even make time stop
So we would never learn the ways
That life really works

Of Santa, tooth fairies and the sand man?
Of innocent games and plays
