Ch.1: Reminiscing
She slowly walked up the steps to her boyfriend's two- bedroom apartment in downtown Los Angeles, still wearing a gray sports bra and black boy- cut tights from color guard practice earlier that day. She hadn't seen Reggie since he had flown to North Carolina to visit his mother who had fallen ill three weeks ago. She softly knocked on the door awaiting a response. She heard movements inside of the apartment and then finally feet shuffling towards the door, but it didn't open. She waited for a few more seconds and knocked again, shaking her car keys around in her left hand.
"Reggie I know you're in there. open the door." She said in a mellow tone. The door flew open and Reggie stepped outside closing the door behind him. She smiled as he smiled at her; the same smile that made her fall in love with him. His hair was neatly braided back and he had on a white wife- beater, which flaunted his football player build, and baggy black jeans sagging on his hips exposing his emerald green boxers.
"Hey baby." He said breathlessly kissing Celeste, "what you doin' here?"
Celeste gave him an awkward look then smile and moving towards the door, " I came to see you."
Reggie blocked Celeste from opening the door by wrapping his hands around her tiny waste and pulled her into a passionate kiss. Her hands made their way around his neck as she pushed her body into his, feeling the bulge in his pants on her thigh. She smiled at him devilishly and asked, "Can we go inside?" "It's messy right now, I wanna clean up a bit before you come in."
Celeste could sense that he was hiding something from her.
"Baby you know I don't mind, I can always hel -, " she stopped mid sentence as the door opened and a Hispanic looking female emerged wearing one of Reggie's oversized t-shirts, like the ones she would wear after they shared a night of ecstasy. Celeste shot him a look of confusion when the girl slipped her hands around his waist.
She felt a lump begin to form in her throat and her eyes began to fill with tears. She swallowed and looked from Reggie, to the stranger that was all over her boyfriend, then back to Reggie. "Who's this?" the girl asked as Celeste stared straight into Reggie's eyes fully understanding the situation. "Ahh." he stammered trying desperately to find an excuse.
Celeste didn't wait to hear whatever Reggie was going to tell her, abruptly she turned around and swiftly made her way down the stairs, she could hear Reggie's footsteps behind her and him saying, "Baby, hol' up. it ain't what you think." Then she felt Reggie grab her from behind holding onto her with all his might and whispering in her ear, "It ain't what you thinkin' baby. it ain't like dat."
She couldn't hold her tears in any longer and they began to cascade from her almond shaped eyes. She tried to wriggle free from his hold, but he had a strong grip on her. "Let go of me!" she yelled through clenched teeth. "Lemme talk to you first," he pleaded.
" You fucked her didn't you?" she was still crying.
"It jus' happened. it wasn't planned."
"Bull shit Reggie, that's the same lame ass excuse every other nigga uses, what I wanna know is how long have you been cheating on me?" she said with an irritated tone.
"Baby, it was only last to God," they both knew he was lying.
"Let go of me Reggie!" she whimpered again, but this time elbowing him in the ribs.
Reggie released her from his grip bending over and holding his stomach as she stormed off towards her car, not once looking back at him. She slammed the door to her 2003 Navy Blue Matrix and started the car.
"CELESTE!" he yelled looking up and squinting his eyes as the sun shone brightly into his face, but only saw her car speeding off into the distance.
Please review. Depending on the reviews I get I'll decide whether or not I'll write more. The good parts are yet to come; this is just a brief introduction to the story. LOTS and LOTS of drama up ahead!
