I stand alone between two gates

Both equally bright, both equally inviting

I ponder which one to tap

And see what angels or demons greet me at its dawn

Often I had left choice to the Fates

But now, as I stand in a seemingly endless dark,

. . .I know now that that this decision is in my hands

And that I can't simply press this issue onto another as I always have done

I must do this myself, on my own

While caught between two gates

Knowing little of what lies before me beyond the threshold

If only I could look to the past for guidance in my future

This confusing situation will only end when,

After whimpering in quiet despondency

A plea to whatever god is out there,

I choose the door that will lead to my eternity.

So which to choose?
