Everyone went running about like chickens with their heads cut off. Fools...Many of Chie's fellow servants followed Sachi as she ran inside. "Hurry, Chie! The monster will kill you!", one of the other servants shouted. Ha! Death would be peace to my hell of a life. She sighed and turned her attention back to the man/monster. He hadn't moved, just continued his icy glare at the scene below him, and everyone but herself, the palace guards, and the dead girl, who wasn't getting up and running off any to soon, had still fled the court yard.
The guards shouted at the so called demon, threatening him with their weapons. He growled, and leapt casually from the wall, landing on the edge of the sacrificial pillar. Well, whether he was a demon or not was anyone's guess, but anyone who could land so gracefully after leaping from that height was not human.
But something stroked a flare of courage in Chie. She was ticked. The bachiatari fools had killed the innocent girl, and she was damned if she was going to let some 'demon' finish her off, and before she knew it she was running, running full speed and climbing up the pillar's stairs. The 'demon' stopped as Chie threw herself onto the girl's corpse, drenching her white dress in blood and spilled spices. The handsome demon narrowed his eyes and growled, "Move girl!" "I won't!" Shouts came from the baka guards below, "Is your mind touched?! Your gonna get yourself killed!" The demon monster folded his arms, looking proud, like someone in a panting. "Even your male friends know better than you, foolish child." ,he stated so coolly. Chie glared at him, though fear spread throughout her body. She knew she was going to die. She'd heard the stories about the monsters from beyond the security of their wall. They killed anything in their way, but death didn't come. He just continued to stare at her, as if examining her every feature.
After several moments of this staring game, and the guards just stood below gawking up like the idiots they were, the guy sighed. He walked up to her, never breaking eye contact, and Chie was suddenly lifted into the air and threw onto the guys back. She looked over to see the dead girl laying beside her on the other side of the demon guy's neck.
The guy leaped off the pillar and in a few leaps landed in the abandoned market square. He walked over to the shop stalls grabbing food and storing it in his strange outfit's interior. Then, after he was finished stealing from the shop stands, he jumped back over the wall.

Chie blinked, finally coming back to realization, and lord, realization was a killer. She was still on his back being carried away into the abyss; Shouriin was just a faint line in the distance. The only place she'd ever known was fading away from her sight.
She screamed, and the guy's body tensed up and dropped her to the ground, the dead girl falling on top of her. She quickly shoved the corpse off, tears running down her cheeks from her throbbing butt. He turned and glared at her; then hissed, "How did you manage to grab on to me, girl?" Chie wiped her tears away and snickered, she wasn't one to look helpless, "But, my lord, you are the one who carried me away." He shut his eyes in deep thought, "I see.", then the red demon eyes snapped open, "You are of no concern to me.", and with that he picked the dead girl up again and turned walking away. "Wait you jack-ss! You can't leave me out here!" He turned to look at her but continued to walk away. Eye's narrowed in warning he said, "Girl, I would beware If I were you. Call me such again and I will be forced to kill you." I gawked. Why are all the cute ones jerks?
I sighed, and jumped up, much to my poor butts displeasure, and followed him, "What do you want with the girl?" "It is none of your concern." "I want to know! It's her fault I'm out here in the first place!" "Then why did you throw yourself out to her if it was something you would regret?", he smirked. "WHY? I couldn't stand what they were doing to her! Then you sloop down",Chie added a little hand gesture to emphasize her words, "All big crap and take off with her!", the guy stopped, while Chie continued to walk absentmindedly mumbling, "No respect for the dead!"
He grabbed her shoulder with his clawed hand and turned her to face him, "But you are from the Bachiatari Tokai, are you not?" "The what?" "The Accursed City, fool! Are you from there?" Chie shoved him off, "I'm from Shouriin, but", she folded her arms,"It might as well be called that." "I see."
Chie turned to look at him, finally taking the time to examine him. He looked to be not much older than herself. He was tall, and wore strange armor, that appeared strong and heavy, but he seemed to carry it without and discomfort. Then again, he'd carried her all that what without even noticing he was doing so. He must be extremely strong, and looked it too. He had a pair of white wolf ears that poked out from the long silver and gold hair. His fingernails were long and sharp, like claws, and he had a pair of wolf fangs instead of regular human teeth. He had color changing eyes; that at times were a bright gold and other were crimson red. The last thing different about him, as far as she could tell, was the white fluffy belt around his waist. She looked up and realized he was looking at her too. She glared. He frowned and picked her up, throwing her on his back, beside dead girl again, "You're to slow girl." She sighed, actually happy that she wouldn't half to walk all the way to wherever they were going, "Hey, where are we going." "I don't know if *we* are going anywhere, but I am going to Valer, and should you decide to follow, I will bathe you so you do not reek of death, but we must bury the dead girl. Human's are not kindly welcome in Valer, and she would certainly not be allowed to be buried there." "Eh?" "You heard me, wrench." Chie clenched her teeth, "I can very well bathe my own self!"
-Demon's P.O.V-
He turned away, so she wouldn't see the smile creeping along his lips. He hated humans, but this one was far to amusing to just toss aside. She was either very brave, or so clueless to the outside world she didn't know what to fear. Any smart human would run at the site of an akuma such as himself, but when all the other worthless humans ran, she stayed, and then even risked her own life to protect the honor of a dead girl she didn't even know. Well, at least she had some moral to her, unlike most coward humans. Besides, he'd taken her from her home. He'd *taken* her. Many demon's took human girl's for *pleasure*, (cough) but he wouldn't lower himself to that level. She was young and strong, so she'd make a good servant. He hadn't had a decent cooked meal in a long time. It might be o.k. having her around; not nice, because human's weren't nice, but o.k., and her now being his servant, he'd have to be a decent master and keep her clothed, fed, and bathed, at least. However, the girl's smart a-s defiant attitude was going to make this a LONG trip to Valer.

lol, the guys name isn't demon, his name just hasn't been introduced yet. ^_~ Oh, and though this story seems related to Inuyasha, the idea actually spawned from a book called, 'Wolf Tower.' If you ever get a chance to read it, please do. It's one of my favorite books. ^_~ Please review! Atonohouno!
