Not In My Name
Cristmas 2002

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

God of Love
Fight the good Fight
Not in my name

Peace on Earth
And forgiveness
Remember that?

Forgiveness
And good will
To all mankind

All mankind

And Peace on Earth
And redemption
And love

And love

No one listens
(Not in my name)
Or no one believes
(Good will to
All mankind)
And no one dares
(Forgiveness)

Remember that?
Forgiveness

And blood is shed
Not in my name

Peace and love
The words are spoken
But not heard
Heard
But not believed
Believed
But no longer true

Was the sacrifice in vain?
Still blood is shed
Not in my name

A/N: I've been reading TS Elliot, thinking far too hard about religion (it being Christmas), and
getting depressed over the current state of international politics. I'm not Christian, but hey,
the poem just popped into my head fully formed at half past one on Christmas morning.
'Not in my name' is the slogan of the British anti-war movement. I might as well point out now
that there's very little point in flaming me about my pacificst politics.
