You walk on the beach
Go the direction the wind takes you
The waves lap at your feet
As you walk along the road
Made of small rock and crystal fragments
Past sea shells and crabs, your tracks in the sand
The wind whispers secrets of the world in your ear
Or the waves touch you with their sacred murders
You accept all facts, because you know their reasons
The cliffs that rise above you
They welcome you as well as the seagulls
To see your tracks in the sand
I follow you, I watch you
Before the waves sweep you foot prints away
I have to try and hurry to keep up
Because you are my friend, my blood
I have to watch out for you as you did for me
Once you touched the water yourself
You changed from two legs to one fin
Slowly you become scaly
A gasp in amazement and shock
The worst part is, you heard me
Your eyes of pure sapphire blue
Turn to look at me in sadness
Slowly your tracks go away
I wish you wouldn't leave me
But I won't be selfish
I want you to be happy
I want you to live
But I can't take away your regrets
The memories of you and me looking for shells
The laughs and joys and tears we shared
Are burned in your thoughts
One last look , one last touch
You smile, call my name
And drop a tear
I cry in silence as I watch you swim back home
To your secret depths
And as I turn around
Your tracks in the sand are mere fin prints
Then gone forever.
Author's note: I was feeling romantic that day. Kinda special. So I wrote this, it was also a rainy day. For some strange reason, they make me happy. Ok, have fun reading.
