The Vampire Prince
{{{ Chapter Three }}}
"Aaaahhh." I thought contently. Standing in front of the mirror, I smiled at my reflection. "Not bad, if I do say so myself." I was ready to go. And I was dressed to impress. Or more accurately, I was dressed to seduce. Not just anyone of course, a particular guy. well a particular vamp. Glancing at the clock I smiled again. A particular vampire who should be rocking up any time. He didn't give a time last night. But he knows how long it takes me to get home. And he could probably take a guess at how long it takes me to get ready.
Looking into the mirror once more, I gave myself a final appraisal. My new black dress was bought with Haplo in mind. It was a reasonably low cut, silky black dress that flowed elegantly to the floor. But it was more the fact that my entire neck was bare. The dress was strapless and I'm not sure if I'm courting disaster with it or not, but it ought to catch his attention. Especially as I had decided tonight to put my hair up elegantly in a French twist. Further displaying my bare neck.
DING DONG
And. thinking of the devil. That must be him. Turning off my light, I grabbed my bag and slipped on my coat. I wanted to surprise him after all, perhaps at the restaurant, I'd like to see his reaction. Allowing myself a small smile at the thought, I casually opened the door.
Wow. God he's gorgeous. You know he really is lucky, he's in a very unusual position. He has all the good points of being a vamp. The extra strength, speed, agility, heightened senses, the great body. The power. But he also has the good points of being a human. the warm blood, a beating heart and a soul.
"You look. amazing." He murmured lightly. And to think, he hadn't seen me without the coat on. "The dress suits you perfectly." Smiling at me, he offered me his arm as I stepped out and closed the door.
"Thankyou. I thought you'd like it." I answered with a smile. "I bought it with you in mind."
"Oh you did, did you?" He asked with a grin as he held the door of his car open for me.
"Ah ha."
Laughing lightly, he helped me into his car.
Smiling at him, I sighed softly as he made his way around to the driver's side. As he gracefully slid into the seat I couldn't help but run my eyes hungrily over his figure.
Not even turning to face me, he casually pulled out into the traffic as he said quietly, with an amazing intensity, "if you don't stop looking at me like that, we won't make it to the restaurant."
Flushing slightly, a smiled a shy smile as I turned from him to look out the window. Trust the vampire to sense I was looking at him hungrily. I was tempted to tell him that I really didn't mind. But figured I shouldn't. He had asked me out to dinner, so I should allow him to take me out. "So."
Out of the corner of my eye I caught his broad smile. "So." He echoed.
Fumbling around in my mind, I tried to come up with something to say. Not that the silence was strained or anything. It was a comfortable silence, but I knew that if I didn't start a conversation soon, I'd end up staring at him again. "Okay, this is gonna sound weird. But I've wanted to ask you for a while." As he raised his eyebrows, I continued. "Do you, ummm, ever have. urges. Like, vampire urges.?"
Furrowing his brow lightly at my question, he glanced over at me. "Yes." He answered casually.
"Like?"
With a grin edging around his beautiful lips, he answered casually. "A few. Like when I'm looking at that beautiful neck of yours. I feel hungry."
"You want food?" I asked in confusion.
Smiling that sexy little smile of his he answered. "No. hungry for the pleasure. the power. More so with you than another person."
"Me. why.?" I asked, a small smile on my face.
"I don't know. It could be because you have a lot of power in you." Glancing at me, he then turned his eyes back to the road. "But, probably because I'm falling for you."
Smiling broadly at his answer, I settled back into my seat. Not trusting my control, I continued to look steadfastly out the window. I didn't completely understand what he'd just told me. But I liked the first and the last parts, and that was all I needed to know. He was attracted to me, and he was falling for me. It's nice to know when your feelings are returned. And I have definitely fallen for him.

Well, our dinner was excellent. The food was wonderful, the atmosphere beautiful. We ate outside though, so I kept my coat on. Shame. I still had the night ahead of me though. With a secretive smile, I concentrated on what Haplo was saying.
At his questioning glance, a blushed. "Sorry. What was that?"
Chuckling, he offered me his hand. "Come. Let's go." As I placed my hand in his, he helped me up. "I asked, if you enjoyed yourself tonight." He repeated with a smile as we headed out of the restaurant.
"Immensely." I answered earnestly with a smile. Leaning over, I lightly grazed my lips on his cheek. Pulling back, I continued walking. "Thankyou." I added, pleased at the surprised smile on his face.
"That's quite alright. I'm glad you agreed to come out with me."
"I couldn't really refuse." I whispered lightly. Knowing that he would probably hear me.
Slipping his arm around my shoulders he murmured quietly into my ear. "That was the idea."
Feeling a delighted shiver run up my spine, I closed my eyes briefly, savouring the feeling. Hearing Haplo groan softly, I knew he too had felt my shiver of delight. As he stepped away from me, he titled my face towards him. Frowning lightly up at him, I was a little surprised when he laid a soft kiss on my cheek. Smiling, he turned me towards the car, opening the door, he helped me in.
