Moonshadows? Kunosk turned the page, filing the word away for later use. I'll find out in due time, he thought.

The bell rang, a deafening mechanical noise that made Eva wince. She shoved her papers into her binder and leapt up to chase Kunosk out the door, given the cheerleaders didn't try to stop her.
Which they did.
"Ohhh, look, it's our new student!" Akene snarled. Neluna stood next to her, a smug look of victory planted on her overly-make-upped face. Jennifer ran her fingers through her blonde-dyed hair, dark eyes glaring like daggers at her competition for the quarterback, Craig.
"Listen, girly," Akene spat, "stay away from Kunosk. Everybody knows he belongs to me. And if you know what's good for you, you will quickly learn that as well. So you just take your crap, and prance your little airhead self down the halls to your next class without Craig, or so help me, I'll -"
"You'll what?" Kunosk's deep voice boomed directly behind her. Eva smiled and scooped up her binder, stifling a laugh as the football player leaned in on the two blonde teenagers, scaring them into nervous fits. They stammered, trying to explain what they really meant, and once Kunosk was sure they weren't going to try anything for a while, he turned around and stepped into the hallway, where he found Eva doubled over in a fit of laughter. He immediately broke into a wide grin.
"Enjoy yourself?" Eva asked around bouts of laughter.

Kunosk shot out of the doorway as soon as the bell for lunch rang, bulldozing over students, making a beeline for the classroom at the end of the hall.
Eva walked out, eyes looking over a sheet with classroom expectations printed on both sides. American culture? This makes no sense! I live in Tokyo, for crying out loud, she thought. She growled and stuffed it into her purse, with the other three class expectation papers, and gave a look around for some sign of Kunosk.
Kunosk came up behind her, blowing softly into her ear and taking delight in her suprised squeal. She whirled around and playfully punched his chest, pouting and tossing her long hair over her shoulder. He grabbed her wrist before she was able to flounce off and get lost and jerked her in the direction of the lunch line.
"So..." he asked, leading the way through crowds towards the cafeteria, "did you have a boyfriend at your old school?" He cringed inwardly, hoping against hope that he didn't appear too forward.
Eva shook her head. "No, I wasn't that lucky," she said, almost mournfully it sounded. Kunosk glanced over his shoulder at her, his heart sinking at the pained look in her eyes. His hand let go of her wrist and slid down into her hand, catching her attention and making her stare in dumbfound confusement at their linked fingers.
"Well, I would be honored if you'd go out with me, maybe a burger and a movie?" he asked softly, stopping to stare at her and wait for an answer. "Maybe show you the sights? Show you that not all guys are as stupid as those at your old school, not recognizing you for the beauty that you are." Kunosk smiled softly, and his heart soared when she smiled and nodded.
"Great!" he cheered. "How about tonight at seven?" Nod. "Great! Well, I'll buy you an eggroll for lunch, if you don't object."
They ate lunch, laughing and joking, both looking forward to the date tonight. Akene glowered from a few tables away, playing in her mind the various ways she would torture Eva if given the chance.
Neluna came over and nudged Akene, handing her a bowl of chicken bits. Akene automatically stuck one in her mouth, chewing and glaring at the back of Eva's head. Neluna followed her gaze with a less-than-admirable scowl, then whipped around to face Akene again.
"Well?" she chirped. "What do we do about her?"
Akene shook her head sadly. "I don't know yet, Neluna. I will soon enough, though. Come on, let's head to class. I want to get a good seat in the back." She tossed what remained of the food in the trash, and stalked off, mind full of tortured screams of Eva, hopefully in the near future.
