55Anna had a plan but didn't know how it would work. The tracer would allow her to find out his daily schedule. Good thing these boy's use technology in their business.
David however had worked his way into a public school education knowing that he would never have enough to go to college. He had found Anna's tracer days ago but left it where it was. He had know idea why though. He trusted her for some odd reason.
It was near 3:00 in the morning and Anna was already up having Alex forge a sick leave note and having Josh make a fake student I.D. She had found out all she needed to know and now her plan was being placed into action. She was going to go to his school for a few days see if she could in some way convince him to come back. She looked at the badge. It read Maria Ruth, that was her name, well her new name. The school was only blocks away so she arrived quickly.
"Maria Ruth" she replied to the attendance lady.
"Welcome to this school sweetheart." She made no reply just stalked off. Her first class was language arts so she made her way to that classroom. She was surprised to find David in her first class.
"Class" the teacher announced "we have a new student her name is Maria Ruth." She was given a welcoming applause and then class continued. Almost all classes were this way so she didn't talk to David until the end of eighth period. In fact, she hadn't even seen him coming.
David pinned her with one arm to her locker.
"Why'd you do it Anna?"
"Do what?" she asked innocently.
"Why did you follow me it would have been easier just to call the police."
"But what have you done wrong? Now you have to move I need to be back to my dorm in twenty minuets."
"There's no way you're going to make it just stay at my place. I'll be gone for a couple of hours at work."
"Okay but will you un-pin me!"
"Oh yeah, sorry" he said blushing. He removed his arm and motioned for her to follow.
"Were going to your dad's old place right?"
"It would seem like that but no. I just put my tracer there at night. I rally have an apartment downtown."
He had an apartment yes, bordering on the ghetto yes. But it was nicer on the inside and it was comfortable.
"You'll sleep in there" he said pointing into the only bedroom.
"And where will you sleep/"
"The couch" he said shortly. He knew he would have liked the bed but he wanted her to be comfortable and he couldn't like her. It was obvious that Alex liked her and he didn't want to hurt another friend. "I'll be back later," he said.
She decided not to wait up for him and went to bed. It wasn't much later that a gentle hand woke her up with the help of the warmth of a body next to hers.
"What is it?" she tried to whisper.
"It's Alex hush."
"But Alex wouldn't hurt you!"
"That's what you think!" That was when she heard Alex speak.
"David I know you're here and Anna didn't come back if you hurt her in any way I will hurt you."
But you haven't hurt me" she said whispering and turning to face him. "Here I'll prove that he won't hurt you." Anna stood up and made for the door.
"Anna please don't" he hissed.
She ignored him and walked through the door. "Alex" she said "I'm fine it was too late for me to come back to school so David offered me shelter is that such a problem."
David had gotten over his fear and come out. "It is if he likes you and I'm pretty sure he does."
"What were you doing in the same room as him Anna?"
"He thought you were going to hurt him. Now I'm out here to prove that you're not!"
"I wasn't going to hurt you man I was just afraid for Anna!"
"So you do like her."
"I don't see how this is relevant!"
"Just answer!"
"Okay fine, yes."
"You do I had no idea you should have just told me."
"Anna I don't think you should stay here any longer. And I think it might be better if you leave the school as well."
Anna just stared him down but it didn't work the face he carried told her that he couldn't be around her. "Alright, alright I'll go." Anna picked up her book bag and left.
"Thanks man" Alex said.
"No problem" David replied. It had all gone wrong he had hoped that while she was here he could get her to like him but Alex had come to soon. And it was already breaking his heart knowing that Alex would try to woo her and after studying her for a while he knew she would fall for him and they would be together.
Anna was walking and kicking rocks. "I want to know why he kicked me out?"
"He just thought you would be safer and that you needed to be at school!"
"But-"
"No buts he made a wise decision we were all worried to death. David's been away too long we don't know if we can trust him."
"Okay. Do you really like me?"
"Now you're going into embarrassing but yes. In fact I was planning on asking you out tonight but you didn't come back."
"Yes."
"Yes what?"
"To going out with you. I think it would be fun." And so started this relationship it was steady for the rest of twelfth grade. They kissed and laughed and enjoyed much of the same things and it was obvious that they cared for each other but Anna's mind had another thought just a single thought that stayed with her and Alex until they graduated form college. Does she like Daniel?
