Traveling Love

It was only days after graduation that Alex popped the question and after their almost seven year relationship how could she say no? The news spread almost all over England and the whole town was trying to decide on where the wedding would be but Anna wanted to be home in Australia. So she and Alex packed up their things and made to leave. But Alex forgot something and left her to go get it. It was in that moment that she saw David.

"Leaving are you?" he asked.

She was a little uncomfortable around him and he obviously hadn't heard about their wedding. "Umm- hey yeah I am." Alex came back out all cheery but frowned soon enough.

"Hey David!"

"Alex!" David left after that he couldn't stand seeing them together. Ali ran down the hall past him.

"Anna, oh my gosh you have to call me and tell me the date okay so that I can come."

"That would be great if you could we would appreciate it."

David scowled there was the 'we thing'. The last thing he wanted to here about them and he didn't even have an idea of what was going on. But he didn't care he didn't like Anna. Well at least he thought he didn't.

"Well dear" said Alex "we don't want to miss the plane."

David turned around to find out what was up but Anna and Alex were already leaving. Damn, he thought what is going on. I've been gone way to long and any time I tried to watch or talk to her Alex's henchman would beat me up. So I gave up on that along time ago. Jesus well I'll find out soon enough. He turned once more and walked to his home.

Anna found herself once more on a plane. And she had hoped that this would be the final trip.

"Ma'am, Sir would you like something to drink?"

"Water" she replied to the cheery flight attendant.

"I'll have a water as well."

After being given their drinks the rest of the flight was silent. And when they got off the only thing Anna could see was her mother giving them and tears of joy to see them.

"Mom calm down everyone is looking."

Her mom stared at her. "My daughter is getting married and you just want me to act like nothing is up. No way is that happening."

And I wanted another mother why she thought.

"Congratulations dear." Her father hugged both her and Alex gently more politely. Something was going on in his head and she had no idea what.

"Well let's go to the car and get you two home where you belong." Her mother was in a bustle to get their bags in the car. She was so excited that her father suggested that he should drive.

Something was up with her dad he smiled and said congratulations but something was making him unhappy. Her mom was rambling on and on but she just ignored her and thought. Than Alex gripped her hand. He hadn't ever met her parents before but she was sure that he was fully introduced by now. She looked at him and smiled gently.

"Are you okay?" he whispered into her ear.

"Yeah I'm fine just thinking." She went back into the thinking mode and looked out of the window once more.

The next few weeks were spent making preparations for a rather expensive wedding. There were to be white roses, and she had a rather amazing dress. Everything and everyone was happy, except for Anna. Something was telling her to call it off make a new path for herself, get a job, look for love in something new. But she had her mothers and Alex's always watching eyes and they were ever asking if she was all right. And her reply would always be just fine.

On the other hand David was still un-aware of the planned wedding and was very curious as to what was taking place in Australia where Anna had gone. And although he tried to deny it anything that involved Anna interested him. He always had the memories of watching her but it never seemed like enough; he wanted to know what it was like to be in love with her and to have her love him back.

But as it seems he could not for at this moment she was in Australia with Alex and each day his heart sank deeper into the sandpit of love. He was just tossed back down to the bottom like a scrap for the dog to chew up and it was making him furious. Why hadn't he taken his chance with her when he had had one? But of course he wasn't in love until that night at his father's old house where he had practically raped the woman he loved. No, no he thought you do not love her she is a distraction, stay on focus you'll get a job and settle down with somebody in your range of the ballpark soon. But he knew his heart would do nothing until he had Anna.

"Dear" Anna's mother called "it's time to get your dress fitted to make sure that it's perfect."

"Mom" Anna said as she entered the room "do you think I am making the right choice?"

"I don't think that that is my decision it is up to you. Do you love him? You decide and if the answer is no call it off because babe I don't want to spend much more money."

The last comment had been made as a joke and she knew it she laughed and was led into the fitting room.

Anna's dress was sleeveless and it was white silk. On the outside it almost looked lacy with lace flowers cascading down the front and back of the dress. The vale was plain so there would be a bit of contrast with the dress. Alex charged into the room saying her name but he was quickly shoved out.

"Don't you know that it's bad luck to see the bride in her dress before the wedding" the lady shouted at him.

"It really is isn't it" muttered Alex. He had found David's name on the invitation list and he was outraged. He knew that Anna had taken part in the making of the invitations so he assumed that she knew. But even if she did, it was too late to change it the invitations were already sent out. "All right then but may I talk to Anna after she is done changing."

"Yes you may," said Anna's sweet voice. Ever since being engaged she had never yelled or lost her temper. She had just stayed in her own train of thoughts hoping that an answer would come to her. She stripped of the dress and put her own clothes back on just to quickly join Alex in the hall.

"Anna" he said "did you know that David was on the invitation list."

"No" she pretended to look mad but really she was quite happy. What if he comes she thought? What will I do then? The only reason I asked if I was doing the right thing was because of him. "I don't see the problem. What damage could he cause?"

Alex calmed down "I guess you're right he couldn't do that much damage."

"Good now go about your normal business because nothing is wrong okay?"

"Okay!" He suddenly realized why he had asked her to marry him. She had an uncanny ability to calm him make him think straight but at the same time lose his mind.

"I have to go talk to my dad" Anna told him "I'll talk to you tonight."

"See you later" he said finally relaxed.

She found her dad where he had been during the wedding preparations all along. Sitting and reading by an empty fireplace but this time he was just staring into oblivion not reading.

"Dad are you all right?"

"Huh oh yes dear I'm fine how about you?" He was being way to formal.

"I'm busy as you can guess. Dad I'm going to go straight to the point something is bothering you and I want to know what it is. I am and adult now and I think I will understand."

"It's to hard to explain. Have you really thought about Alex solidly since you met him?" She nodded her head. "Are you positive he's the one that you want to spend the rest of your life with until the day you die?"

"How could I? Who would?"

"I was when I met your mother and then she died I knew she wouldn't want me alone and then I met Ashley. She's almost exactly like your mother. God made sure that I met this woman so that both you and I would be happy. When you think about it is he the one, the one that you will forever carry in your heart dead or alive?"

It struck Anna then that she was in love with another man and she couldn't nod her head but forced herself to do so any way.

"Than I support you both" he looked into her eyes. "Anna are you telling me the truth?"

"To tell you the truth I really don't know sir."

"Than until your decision is made I will sit here waiting. Waiting for your final decision." With that my father looked back into the flames that weren't there leaving me to ponder.

Being up late was not helping so I made for bed early and just lay there thinking until that time when Alex came in.

"You're in bed awfully early" he said. "Is everything all right?"

"Yes everything is fine."

He stared at her and later when he was laying next to her he could tell that she was apprehensive. Probably nervous he thought. I am too but I know it's right.

David went out to check his mail for the first time in about a week and in it was Anna's invitation. Damn he thought. I thought that they would be with each other a little longer and than split.

"Ali did you know about this" he asked her as she went by.

"Oh yes, didn't you."

"No" he whispered back. He sat in his home that night. The night that everybody left. They would help with some preparations before the actual wedding. But he couldn't bring himself to go. He took a sip of bear hoping that it would wash the sick feeling in his stomach away but it did not. I'll sleep on it I can get over a girl I can live. I'm tougher than this.

"Anna" Alex whispered in it "all the guest are here and yet no David."

"Are you trying to get to me?" she asked a little annoyed by his antics.

He was stunned he had never heard her this angry in a while. "No" he said quieting down. It was just important to him. He knew that David still liked Anna he had thought that David would rush to stop the wedding but to his luck he hadn't. That set Anna thinking what if she loved him but the feeling wasn't mutual.

David sat there in the morning staring at the invitation just wondering, thinking. I have to go. I at least want to see her happy, I at least want to see her smile one last time.

"David you still here?" called a voice.

He opened his shades. It was Josh. "Not for much longer I at least have to see her once more."

"Than come on I say we go crash a wedding."

Not even caring to throw together a suit David ran out of his house and into Josh's car.

"What took you so long man?"

"I didn't check my mail!" David said this with a hearty laugh. It was part true.

They were soon on a flight to Australia courtesy of Josh, with some help from David. He was so anxious what if he came too late. He thought he would tell her his feelings before she walked the isle but what if he was too late, would he still tell her? His mind battled this until he came to a solid yes. And by this time the flight was over. Checking the Australian clock he saw that he had exactly two hours before Anna's heart was sealed to another.

"Josh hurry up!" They jumped into the first available cab and gave directions. David was sweating and he was ever checking his watch. They had been driving for half an hour when he started to freak. There was way too much traffic. By the time he reached their house he had five minuets to tell her. But the music was stopping and the priest was talking.

"Excuse me I have to get in there. I have to get through. Sir, Ma'am will you please." And there was Anna standing at the front her hands clutching a bouquet of flowers, she was gorgeous in her silk like dress. Across from her was Alex and he was smiling. He knew that he was getting the best deal. But when he looked at Anna's face she wasn't smiling. Her face held almost a frown.

"Anna" David called out. He didn't even know what he was going to say he just knew that he couldn't let it go any farther. Anna's father stood up a big grin on his face. He had met David before and he knew the story of his past yet he still trusted David above and beyond his family almost.

"David you came."

"Yes sir I came. I was sitting at home all last night and some of the morning and I came to a decision-"

"David" Alex said with a warning tone "I suggest you stop."

"Alex a thousand of your henchman's beatings would be worth it if I could tell Anna what I have wanted to tell her for ages."

"And what would this be David?" Anna said in a calm voice.

"My decision was to come here. I couldn't let you marry Alex without knowing what I felt. Anna I love you and I always will no matter whom you're with or where you are. They could set me up with a thousand women and still you would be the only one I would ever need."

The crowd was flabbergasted mostly Anna!

"I knew there was something special about you from that first day in the airport" he said walking towards her. "All the pain I must have cost you it's killing me now. I knew from night one that I looked into your eyes. And I knew from that day you showed up in my school and from those words in the museum that night that I loved you. Anna" he said kneeling at her feet "please will you consider me before I am forgotten forever."

Anna kneeled down with him. "You never have been forgotten. Ever since that day at the airport you have been on my mind and too many times to be counted I have considered turning around and running to you. And what is there to stop me today from doing so? David I love you too." The love was expanding as people cheered and shouted around them for the two to get married. Standing David gently pulled her up after him.

"May I- may I ask for you hand in marrige?"

"Yes David you may."

And so the priest read his words to bind the two in happiness till death do they part.

A/N: End of Traveling Love! Don't hate me for it because I am going to write a sequel but not if you do not review and also if you don't tell me what you think should be in the sequel.
